It might be a good idea to understand the process used to get commercial eggs.
Once you figure that out, you make you choice.
Its not just about whether the egg is fertilised or not. Chickens are just about the most abused farm animals, If you are veggie for moral reasons, it makes little sense to avoid meat but eat eggs.
did you know 20% of hens are slaughtered every year because thier egg production goes down. Chickens can live to 10 years old or more. commercial egg layers are killed at 18 month old. Not to mention half the population being slaughter once they are sexed as male.
Eat eggs and you are directly responsible for that, just the same as eating meat makes to directly responsible for the death of the animal.
If you can live with it, help yourself.
The most cruelty-free eggs are those bought at the hobby-farm or smallholders gate where you can see the hens in real free-range conditions.

Free range chickens are not with roosters when the chickens are for egg laying. Free Range chickens that I raised when I was young were fenced in a big field and treated well. They never came in contact with any roosters. I named all my chicken.. only 8 of them.. Nancy, Wilma, Betty,
Karen, Dorothy, Cindy, Brenda, Rita! Chickens aren't as stupid as some people think. They can make nice pets too! Just don't make them angry or they peck you with their beek! My brother had a Pet Ostrich and it lived among the Chickens. It seemed to think the chickens were it's younguns!
Avoid store bought eggs cause they usually have
come from stalls where chickens have been couped up! Vegetarians can eat eggs. Eggs are not in the meat group. Eggs are in the Dairy Group!

I'm lacto vegetarian and I don't eat eggs. I don't distinguish between free range or whatever.
There's the chicken thing, plus I just don't like the taste of eggs.

Yes..they are unfertilized and they are not a life, never could be..
Yes, vegetarians eat them, because they are not a dead animal.. "Vegetarian" is short for "lacto-ovo vegetarian" which means dairy (lacto) and eggs (ovo) are included in the diet..
Unfortunately, the conditions the hens are kept in to produce those eggs are as horrific, if not MORE horrific, than any other part of the meat industry.

It's purely a person choice but I am a vegetarian and I don't eat eggs because chickens (even free range) are treated so terribly.

Some vegetarians eat eggs, but avoid any byproduct that has resulted in the death of the animal like meat. Vegans on the other hand avoid all byproducts as well as meat.

Eggs are suitable for vegetarians, because the egg was not fertilized from the sperm, the chick could have not been born either way.

Some vegetarians eat all eggs...some don't eat them at all.
It depends how strict they want to be....and why they are vegetarians.
Some won't even eat honey or cheese (that is CRAZY to me!)
