why are you a vegetarian if you like meat? be careful...your body has grown unaccostumed to meat, so eatiung a lot of it all of a sudden can make you feel sick :(

So you fell off the wagon. Get right back on. Get some veggie burgers so the next time you have a burger craving, you can have a veggie burger instead. I recommend Amy's Texas burger or Gardenburger Flame Grilled, as they're the most realistic. There are tons of analogues out there, and one is sure to get you over any meat cravings you have.
You're getting over a bad addiction--yes, meat is an addiction. And it's hard, but after you've been veg long enough, the idea of eating meat will probably make you quite ill.

I just stopped eating meat last month and yesterday I had half of a ruben sandwich. It was good but I am not going to beat myself about it because I have had meat in my diet all my life and this is the first time in a month that I have touched it. I dont plan on eating meat in the future I am really enjoying eating the vegitarian way. I am surprised this was the one and only time. I would really like to see some weight lose from my new lifestyle but if I dont I know I am getting healthier. Keep up the good work people sometimes fall but just get back up brush yourself off and try again. Good luck and good health!

There is no need to feel bad about it. New vegetarians sometimes find it hard to give up meat. There are a few reasons that you could have been craving meat. It could be psychological(you want fast food and feel you need to have it), your recipes and meals are not varied enough and you are eating the same things all the time, etc.
Your really need to pinpoint the reason for the slip. If it is that you really want fast food, than you can disguise real food as fast. Sometimes this is used for people who are trying to eat healthier, but want the fast food they are used to.
This is all psychological. Make a veggie burger(frozen boca, homemade chickpea/tofu/etc) and wrap it is wax paper and put it in a paper bag. Bake sweet potato fries and put them in a package similar to fast food. Eat and enjoy. This will satisfy your need to have fast food, it almost tricks the brain.
If the reason is variety then you need to find more recipes and food you enjoy. Use books, the internet, etc and write down recipes that you can make. When I first became vegetarian my recipes were small(I was eating the same foods every week), now I have so many recipes that I rarely eat the same thing more than once a month.
If you are missing old favorites than you can be creative. Most meat dishes can be converted. It just takes a bit of thought. For examples, if you like sloppy joes, you can make sloppy lenies, if you like chicken parm. you can make eggplant parm instead, if you miss hamburgers make chickpea burger or tofu burgers, etc.

The craving is probably your body telling you that you need some extra protein. you don't need much but a couple of eggs or equivalent each day is a good idea.
I've been vegetarian for about 5 or 6 years but I was raised on eating meat and I've eaten meats some people have never heard of; it's not easy to kick the habit unless you fill the gap with some really good vegetarian food so make sure you can either buy or make some meals that are going to hit the spot every time.
People assume that if you're vegetarian that you hate meat or you're some kind of weirdo. But one look at the knuckle-dragging freaks who work in slaughterhouses and meat processing plants ought to make them think twice. Have you ever seen those people? Seriously, they're 10% short of human.
edit* BTW, if you live in the UK you might consider learning how to eat roadkill. I ate plenty of pheasant and rabbit when I was a kid. We don't have a rabies problem in the UK so if you see FRESH roadkill that smells okay and isn't badly damaged it will be safe to eat - and it's ethical. :-)

Listen to your body. If you are craving meat, you can either learn to be strong and work through the cravings or accept the fact that you may not be a vegetarian. It took about three years for me to completely wean myself off meat. But now it's been 19 years of freedom and I appreciate every day. Vegetarianism has been a wonderful journey.

You are human after all, so you ate a hamburger, so what? Will it kill you? No.
We are programmed to feel guilty about everything. Well, here's some news.
Don't.
If you fail, try and try again.
If you discover you are not cut out to be a full time vegetarian, then find a position in the middle that does not make you feel that way.
Being a veggie or whatever should not be a burden.
Be happy.

Think about it as if you were a smoker and a veggie head. You would take a smoke break, right?
Instead you took a "meat break". So don't worry about it. I'll bet it was good, wasn't it? Reallllllllllly good, no? Enjoy life a little.
BTW .... Google "Flexitarian Diet" and check out some of the websites. It might make you feel better and less guilty about your next "meat break".

What about those steaks and sausages made from soy? Taste is similar to the real deal (although the consistency of the product is more like that of hashbrowns...)

You shouldn't beat yourself up over it. Anybody can fall off the wagon trying to adapt to any new lifestyle or major dietary change. Try again, if you think you still want to be vegetarain, and maybe try to avoid those places until your cravings have disappeared. Good Luck, I am sure you will do fine!
