Eggs are considered eggs. Milk is considered a dairy product. Milk can come from goats, sheep, cows... or any other mammal for that matter. Not all milk comes from cows. I have drunk many gallons on goats milk during my lifetime.

Neither is meat, neither is veggie.

There is more than one type of vegetarian.

To simply matter:

Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat eggs and drink milk.

Vegans eat no animal products at all.

Then there are the people who call themselves vegetarians because the don't eat red meat. These are usually just people who want to sound like they live a healty lifestyle, but they are not realy vegetarians.

Eggs are an animal PRODUCT but they are not meat.. meat is the FLESH of a dead animal.. commercial eggs are unfertilized so they are not an embryo, or in no other way could they be condisdered an "animal" or "meat"

There's no other way to put it that I know of..

Vegetarians eat eggs and consume dairy products, but VEGAN vegetarians (vegans) do not.

There are 4 distinct kinds of vegetarianism:

1) lacto-ovo vegetarianism (may eat dairy products and egg products);
2) lacto vegetarianism (may eat diary products);
3) ovo vegetarianism (may eat egg products);
4) vegan (may not eat dairy or egg products).

Of course, this is not a comprehensive list. Some people who do not eat meat, dairy or egg products eat other things that come from animals, such as honey. Would they still be considered vegan? Most people would consider them to be. Is vegetarianism strictly limited to diet? What about leather, silk, furs, etc.? There are always hair to split.

Keep in mind that words can have different meanings in different situations; what may be considered vegetarian in California might not be so in New York. Some people consider fish to be part of a "vegetarian" diet. WTF?

Your diet is your diet. Do what works for you.

Eggs would be a protein source, though not meat. Many vegetarians chose not to eat eggs because it is an animal product and many believe that factory farms are inhumane and cruel in the way they raise egg laying chickens.

i classify meat as the flesh of an animal, and since eggs are not flesh of an animal, to me, eggs are not meat.

as for the rest, there is a classification of vegetarian and vegan. vegetarians do not eat meat or products that directly come from the flesh or bone of an animal, but still eat by-products of animals. vegans try to abstain from using or eating any product that comes from an animal.

I categorize eggs as "almost meat" and don't eat them.

I use dairy. I rarely use milk itself, but I like yogurt, cheese and so on.

I follow the "lacto-vegetarian" diet common to Hindus. My wife is Hindu (from India) but I was eating that way for 9 years before I met her. I am not Hindu but I am in love with many of their ideas.

Eggs are not meat or veggie. If you are fully vegan you wouldn't eat them because they do come from animals. But the eggs that are produced for human consumption are unfertilized, so no animals have to be killed or harmed for us to have them. If you can be sure to get eggs from free-range chickens, they are actually a really good source of protein for a non meat eater. The white contains almost all of the protein and almost none of the fat and cholesterol that are in the yolk, so dump the yolk if that concerns you.

While eggs are a very cruel product, I don't consider them meat. It's just an animal product.

I also avoid dairy because of the veal connection and the fact that I'm not a baby calf.
