I have a recipe that calls for grated ginger root....to my suprise I found i had to buy this freaky looking twisty thing in the produce section- and how am i supposed to grate this? Do i have to do anything to it first? How finely should i grate it? Once I've used what i need of it, how can i store it? How long will it last? Please understand I am a novice of all things in the kitchen, so any advice would help me more than you could know. Thanks!

Am I obligated to give out my pumpkin pie recipe to my son's friends parents? My spouse and I get along with them very well. They enjoyed the homemade pumpkin pie that I made because it's delicious and not 2 sweet.
The mother asked me for the recipe because her son ate a whole slice because normally he doesn't eat pie.
Is it considered rude if I don't give out my personal recipe? I don't want to give it out and then regret it later because friends come and go.

Any cook book I have read says ''Fry''.

As you can guess, I'm no cook, but I do try.

Boil?
Roast?
Steam?

Can you tell I know nothing about this!!

i have never made this and have just been thinking of something easy to do and cheap for christmas treats.
Take one cup sugar mix with 1 egg tsp vanilla and 2 tbs. butter or maragarine. Mix well. Use mandarin oranges, bananas and maybe mandarin cherries. Coat the fruits in the sugar mixture and bake. Would this even turn out? Would it be too sweet? Do i need to add something or take something out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And naan (by using a standard oven)... anyone have any good ones for this? My favorite naan is Alu. Thanks!!
