It is better to bake them instead of boiling them. You really answered your own question-boiling makes them watery, and you don't want to add this extra moisture to the pie. Too bad you can't give yourself the points! I love sweet potato pie!!! Save me some!!!

My mom has been boiling them forever. But she tried baking them to make a sweet potato pone recipe and baking worked really well. I would definitely go for baking.

Most definitely!!! I think it provides better flavor than boiling. I bake my for Thanksgiving, then I either mash them or cut them into chunks and top them with marshallows. I never used to eat them, until I tried them baked!!!

After you boil them you drain the water off in a collander before you mash them but I don't see why you can't bake them as long as they're cooked. Good Luck!

Personally, I think it would be the best way to cook them. The skins come off easily after they are baked.

yes,

Coat the skin wth oil and wrap in tin foil.

This will make the skin easier to peel of.

By all means bake them.!!!And the ones you do not use in your pie.....peel them...mash with a fork and spread creamery butter on them and eat..... Or you can slip the skin off after baking, slice in half....brown in butter..... Yummy yum yum ....
I love sweet potatoes!!! Save a slice of your pie for me, please?

you can microwave them if you want....cut the ends off and make 3 length wise slits in them, rub with olive oil and put in the microwave for 8 minutes
