having a halloween party for chilren Want to make sponge cakes but with a hlloween theme. Silly thing really but never made home made cakes before. Any ideas and recipes?

I know I have to stuff the rigatoni with melted mozzarella and stuff the mushrooms on the ends with button side out to replicate "joints." Add tomato sauce for blood. But I need to the actual recipe so I don't inevitably screw up.

I have won several awards with my current recipe. I smoke the meat, make my own chili powders, and among the key ingredients are tequila, beer, cinnamon, chocolate and 6 different chili powders. The first cook-off of the year is Saturday, and I'm in the process of making a batch. What I need to know is does anyone think replacing some of the water with coffee would add an interesting flavor? If not what other liquid? Don't need whole recipes, please, just advice on an ingredient.

the wire whisk things can't do butter, sugar I don't think, it'll get all clogged & they are kind of delicate (more for egg whites I guess?). The other attachments are just dough hooks or immersion blending (both of which I don't need).

I noticed on Food Channel etc. they almost always use the stand mixer w/ the "flat beater" w/ the 3 holes ?

My cakes NEVER come out, my cookies aren't that great either. Texture, flavor is never right. I usually cream butter and sugar in a Cusinart (like tiny food processer) & do the rest by hand (but I am careful not to overmix).

I don't really want to spend hundreds on a mixer because I only bake a few times a year (but I love to bake) and no one else in my house will use it.

So could that be the reason why everything doesn't taste as good as when someone else (bakery) does it?
