I have a recipe that calls for ground fennel seeds. Of course, I can not find it anywhere in any of my local supermarkets, so I figured I will ground my own - but I'm not sure how to do it.

What is the worst thing that could happen if something goes a few hours over the required time in a crock pot? Will the roast or corned beef get more tender or tough? I add a sufficient amount of liquid every time I use the crock pot for recipes. Just in case.

I don't have a deep fryer so I usually fry them on a pan quickly in about a 1/4" of oil. They come out pretty greasy. What if I put them in the oven afterwards, would that dry them out a bit?
