What kind?
Most cookies are basically flour, eggs, vanilla and sugar, the variant ingredients is what makes it a sugar cookie, chocolate chip, peanut butter ect.

Best-Ever Oatmeal Cookies:

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs
2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour

Prep time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 12 minutes

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream both sugars, butter, vanilla,and almond extract in a bowl. Add the eggs and mix.

2. Mix the oatmeal, baking soda, and flour in a separate bowl; add to the butter-and-sugar mixture and stir together.

3. Place the dough by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake about 12 minutes, or until lightly brown around the edges. Cool cookies slightly before removing them from the sheet.

Yield: 42 cookies

Well, Rod (?) there are different kinds. But here's a great recipe for you, to get started with-

HERMITS:

1 cup dark raisins
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp bakin soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup walnuts, chopped

1. Pour 2 cups boilin water over the raisisn in a sauce pan and bring to boiling; pour off the water and drain raisins on obsrobent
paper (strong paper towels). Coarsly chop rasisn and set aside.
2. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and the spices together and thorughly blend; set aside.
3. Cream the butter; add the brown sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, thoroughly beating after each addition.
4. Add the dry ingredients (that includes flour) in fourths, minxing until blended after each addition. Stir in the rasins and nuts.
5. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on lightly greased (or sprayed) cookie sheets.
6. Bake at 400 degrees (be sure to preheat the oven.) f, about 7 minutes.
7. Take out of oven and allow to cool on a flour sack towel.
8. Enjoy or put away in not lead cookie jar.
