OK so the recipe calls for (from bottom to top) alfredo sauce, then tortellini, then broccoli, then repeat this and lastly top with bread crumbs.

My questions are:

I love the breadcrumbs!! Can I put them on the bottom or in the middle? Would it still cook the right way??

Also do you think this is a good casserole to freeze and take along for vacation??
THANKS!

A person I once knew from the carribean cooked a lovely meal for my friend and I - they had plantain on the top for a garnish. I was dubious at first as I thought it was a hot banana but it tasted totally different and had a firmer texture. I've lost contact with the cook so I cant ask her!

Ok, so the girl from over the road who has come fresh over from Jamaica where she lived all her life gave me a recipe recently..but boy was it salty!!! It was (as she told me) 5 pound (in money) of mutton, chicken seasoning, meat seasoning, flavouring (which is monosodium glutomate to the uninformed), curry powder, scallion, onion, fresh thyme, a bit of garlic....then basically, she said wash the meat, use about a tablespoon each of the seasoning and then half a packet of the curry .... all of which the main ingredient is SALT..mix with all the other stuff, marinade meat overnight then cook in a little oil adding small amounts of water for about 2 hours! Meat was tender but way way to salty...but it smelled so goood!!The rice an peas was sticky and tasteless...cream coconut, kidney beans, thyme, scallion, whole bell pepper and brown rice...oh and a pinch of sugar...where did I go wrong?? Was it how I cooked it? HELP PLEASE

Hi. I always wash my rice before I cook it, but I don't exactly know how that improves anything. Anybody know? What's the difference between unwashed and washed rice? What comes off of the rice? How does the flavour and texture change? How does the nutritious value change?

Some people say that when you wash rice it becomes less sticky, but in Japan everyone washes their rice, and the prefered texture is for the rice to be a little sticky so that you can eat it easily with chopsticks. I doubt Japanese would want to wash away nutrients, yet people always wash rice in Japan.

The dispute revolves around salads, specifically one ingredient. I say that if one is going to have sexual relations with a cucumber, it shouldn't be served in a salad later. She says that so long as the cucumber was wearing protection, it shouldn't matter. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Have they lost their popularity recently? I don't use mine quite as much as previously. Do you? If so, what types of things do you either cook or reheat in a microwave?
