OK so the recipe calls for (from bottom to top) alfredo sauce, then tortellini, then broccoli, then repeat this and lastly top with bread crumbs.

My questions are:

I love the breadcrumbs!! Can I put them on the bottom or in the middle? Would it still cook the right way??

Also do you think this is a good casserole to freeze and take along for vacation??
THANKS!

Yes, it would freeze well and be fine to take with you. However, if you put the breadcrumbs in other places it will cook just fine, but they will taste different. The reason they taste so good is from the way they cook on the very top. Layered inside they will get soggy from the sauce, and absorb more flavor. I wouldn't bother adding more, it might just change something that is already good!

I don't think you would have a problem freezing it just as long as it isn't a month old in the freezer, I would let it go about a week. Breadcrumbs will get soggy I don't mind them either way so I would do a test run and just try it. Everyone has different taste buds!!!!

I think if you place the breadcrumbs on bottom or middle they will become mushy. You won't have that crunch factor as if on top!
It should freeze well. Just use a cassorole dish that can go from freezer to oven. Hope this helps!!!

You can put the breadcrumbs anywhere you want. They will be a different texture (more mushy) if you have them in the bottom layers.

It should freeze well.

I wouldn't use the breadcrumbs, me... too soggy. Also, I don't freeze pasta or rice dishes... the texture gets ruined, imo.

bread crumbs on top-otherwise will get soggy.

can freeze, but don't put the bread crumbs on till you're ready to cook....soggy again.
