Bake them in an oven like you do a baked potato. When you cut them open put butter and brown sugar in it.
Also microwave for about 8 mins. Skin and cut them and place in skillet. Add butter, brown sugar and Karo syrup. Let them cook til soft. Serve for a side dish.

Cook them how you would cook normal white potatoes.
Sweet potatoes are extremely versatile and can be incorporated in recipes both sweet and savoury.
Have you tried searching the web for some recipe ideas?
Here is some info for you!!!
you should always look for sweet potatoes with tight, unwrinkled skins with no blemishes or bruises. Sweet potatoes generally do not have as long "shelf" life as white potatoes and the bruised ones rapidly deteriorate. The last longer in a dry, dark, cool place and can stay fresh up to three to four weeks. They taste best when used within one week of purchase. For the most part, sweet potatoes can be used in any white potato recipe and cooked sweet potatoes can be stored in the refrigerator in a covered container for 4 to 5 days. On the plus side, sweet potatoes and yams are relatively low in calories and have no fat. They are rich in beta-carotene, have five times the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin A and are loaded with potassium. These nutrients have been shown to protect against heart attack and stroke.

Sweet potatos and toaster ovens were made for each other! The skin gets crispy and little dribblets of syrup come out of the fork marks (you must puncture the sweet potato with a fork a few times before you cook it). Cook it hot (around 400) for 30-40 or untill soft... They end up being so delish that you do not need butter or anything :)

I have made a rosti by grating sweet potato, swede and onion (or use carrots or parsnips any combination) bind together with beaten egg then fry on the bottom and grill to cook the top. Lovely!! You can also cut into wedges spray with Frylight and bake them.

Basic method is to bake or microwave them just like a regular potato. We serve them with butter and a little cinnamon that way. Here is a great recipe for "African Sweet Potato Stew":
•2 tsp olive oil
•1-1/2 cups chopped onion
•1 garlic clove, minced
• 4 cups (1/2 inch) cubed peeled sweet potato (about 1-1/2 pounds)
•1-1/2 cups cooked small red beans
•1-1/2 cups vegetable broth
•1 cup chopped red bell pepper
•½ cup water
•1 tsp grated peeled fresh ginger
•½ tsp salt
•½ tsp ground cumin
•¼ tsp black pepper
•1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
•1 (4.5 ounce) can chopped green chiles, drained
•3 tblsp creamy peanut butter
•3 tblsp chopped dry-roasted peanuts
•6 lime wedges
1.Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cover and cook 5 minutes or until tender.
2.Place onion mixture in a pot. Add sweet potato and next 10 ingredients (through chiles). Bring to boil, cover and cook on low for one hour and vegetables are tender.
3.Spoon 1 cup cooking liquid into a small bowl. Add peanut butter; stir well with a whisk. Stir peanut butter mixture into stew. Top with peanuts; serve with lime wedges. Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 1-1/3 cups stew, 1-1/2 tsp peanuts, and 1 lime wedge).

like a baked potatoe, set oven on 350 bake for about an hourn wrapped in foil. Than the best part, is to pull it out, slice it down the middle and add honey, butter and cinnamon and put back in the oven for 5 minutes. you can also slice them like french fries and fry them like french fries, french fried sweet potatoes are awsome!

Delia Smith did them as Oven Chips once.
She said to treat the as you would normal white potatoes.
We cooked them like baked potatoes and found them nice.
This info site might help.

Cut into decent sized chunks and roast with a little olive oil and rosemary or skin and boil with normal spuds (sweet pots take about 15 mins to boil) and then mash with butter, a little olive oil, seasoning and roasted garlic....yummy!
