I am making an Elmo cake for my nephews first birthday. I know that shortening is best in buttercream for decorating. Should I use more butter in the frosting to ice the cake and then make a different batch for the decorating with more shortening in it? Or can I use a recipe that is both butter and shortening and use it on the whole thing? What do you think? Let me know. Thanks!

I often drink Costco soymilk because it`s cheap, and it has one gram of fiber, while a more expensive brand, Westsoy, I think, has 3 or 4 grams. And then I sometimes drink locally (San Diego) made soymilk that has no fiber.
Now all of these have roughly the same ingredients, ranging from simply soybeans and water to soybeans, carrageenan, sea salt, and some added vitamins. But I have trouble believing any of the added stuff contains fiber. So are there ways to make soymilk in which the fiber is either retained or lost, or is this an issue of companies being careless with their labeling?
Additionally, the protein content fluctuates between brands, but I assumed this had to do with the concentration of soybeans to water.

We're having a product party (think Mary Kay, Pampered Chef etc) and I need suggestions on inexpensive snacks to serve. It will be later at night (7ish), so most people will have eaten dinner already. I'm looking for ideas that preferably have little to no prep/cook time. I'm just kinda stuck because it's so late in the evening- serious answers only please! Thanks!

Okay, I'm half vegetarian, I barely eat meat but I've been losing weight, I have a small body figure (I'm 5'4... practically a giant and 105 Ibs .... Hmmmm I am 18 also) so I need something to replace meat because I can't continue losing weight... any suggestions? I don't eat false meat either so no false stuff.

My hubby (senior citizen) likes steaks, and has a hard time chewing them,.....and I have a difficult time getting them tender enough for him.....so I resort to ground beef.
Someone I worked with fixed him a steak that he could cut with a fork.
What is the 'secret; to a good medium well done steak???? (no pink showing!)
Thanks!

My husband and I are Lacto-Ovo-Pesco Vegetarians; which means we include dairy products, eggs, and fish into their diets.

I want to know which supplements we should be taking. And any well establish brands one might recommend.

Thanx
