Poultry fibres are more compacted than other meats so it is harder for them them to be sufficiently cooked enough to kill all the bacteria when you cook from frozen. Its OK to do it with things like chicken nugget, chicken burgers etc as they are thin enough to cook right through very quickly. But best not to take chances with a whole chicken - salmonella is VERY unpleasant!

What`s more annoying - being organised enough to defrost the chicken in advance, or cooking it from frozen & risking Salmonella poisoning or worse?? I would take no notice of those who say you can cook it from frozen - yes you can but is it worth the risk?
To expand this further WHY buy frozen chickens? They are plumped up with water injected into the breast, for a few measley coppers more you can buy fresh & for a few more still you can buy corn fed ! Try it you may just taste the real flavour of chicken for once!!

Nobody's saying you can't, but it's not advised.
As I'm sure you know, poultry contains Salmonella. If you cook it from frozen, the centre of the bird is probably going to be still raw and salmonella will be multiplying like mad if in the danger zone (5 - 63 degrees centigrade) for which it is more than likely going to be. For all poultry, if the core temperature isn't above at least 78 degrees and you eat it like that, you run the risk of getting food poisoning.
As annoying as it may be, I'm sure it's not as annoying as if you become ill due to food poisoning.

for one explain why you can't. That is about dumb you can cook it anyway you want to it just takes forever to get done. So have at it and enjoy cooking your frozen chicken. But it's much easier if it isn't frozen. lol
