Okay, I'm half vegetarian, I barely eat meat but I've been losing weight, I have a small body figure (I'm 5'4... practically a giant and 105 Ibs .... Hmmmm I am 18 also) so I need something to replace meat because I can't continue losing weight... any suggestions? I don't eat false meat either so no false stuff.

Hi there- I'm a vegetarian too (for health and respect for animals) You're 5'4" and you weigh 105 and you think you're a GIANT? You're perfect! Well, you can always incorporate things like tofu in your diet. Pasta is also good as are breads and yogurt. ( I eat tons of yogurt ) I tried the fake meat and it's digusting so I don't blame you. If you're a *half* vegetarian, you could consider eating fish...go to the PETA website and check out other alternatives. Good luck to you.

According to what you wrote, you are not a vegetarian. Your diet is your won, so don't think that I'm judging you. Some non-flesh proteins sources are:
tofu, tempeh, seiten, nuts, beans, seeds

Why don't you eat the soy based meat substitutes? Some are good. Some aren't.
They good thing about them is that they are low fat and have more fiber than meat.
Soy beans are an annual crop which is sustainable. You should try some different kinds, because some are really good and
healthy.

For your age, you need to eat more calories to maintain your weight. Nuts and seeds are good for that, grains, too. Make sure you get some healthy oils, olive oil, fish or flax seed oil.

Morning Star, any veggie burger just read what's in the ingredients...eat fruits, vegetables, beans have a lot of protein, so eat those to make up for not eating meat. peanut butter has protein too. Eat eggs. avocado to get the omega 3 fatty acids that are good for you...like fish is. Good luck!

there is no such thing as half vegetarian u are either vegetarian or not. I don't eat meat as much either but I don't consider myself a least bit of vegetarian. You can eat meat like chicken it doesn't have to be beef or pork I also eat fish my weight is 110 and I'm 5'4 too but my doctor doesn't think anything is wrong I'm slim because it runs in my family and ur young ur metabolism is probably fast but when ur older u may pick up weight. Go to ur doctor and ask him/her for advice but ur body needs some type of supplement u cant just eat fruit and vegetables

You should look at your diet as a whole. Keep track of everything you are eating in a day. To maintain weight you need to take in as many calories as you burn, and to gain you need to take in more calories than you burn.

Try eating more meals throughout the day. Smaller meats more frequently is better than three big meals. You want to be sure than even though you want to gain weight, you are not filling up on "junk" calories.

You may want to eat more pastas, grains, beans, etc. These tend to be a little higher in calories per serving(especially pastas)

Your protein consumption is probably fine.
What you need to do is eat enough calories to maintain your weight. I cut out refined sugar, peanut butter and bread and lost 50 pounds immediately, and after eating it again, I have stayed at the same weight for months. I had been eating 3-5 servings of grains (brown rice, whole wheat pasta), 8-12 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2-3 servings of protein (tofu, beans, nuts) and the occasional serving of soy yogurt and soy, almond, or rice milk.
There's a Canadian food guide PDF on this website: http://www.capitalhealth.ca/EspeciallyFor/WeightWise/Special_Considerations_for_Vegetarian_Eating.htm
I've found it helpful to keep track of what I'm eating, and the food guide makes it easy to understand what a "serving" is. Plus I coloured it in and it looks cool on my fridge.
Good luck <3

Yeah, you are pretty well going to get flamed for eating fish and calling yourself 1/2 vegetarian.. That's the way most folks are on this forum. They really give a damn if you disappear into nothing, just as long as your don't eat anything they consider "meat". Bunch of crazies for sure.

Your health comes first. You need to moderate your diet and that may mean being less than 1/2 vegetarian. It is sad that at your age you may be forcing yourself into a shoe that may not fit for you . . . i.e. being a vegetarian. There's a life to have and a wonderful world to explore and sweating over this kind of stuff is really kind of silly.

You may be one of those persons whose physiological make-up will not tolerate a veggie-head or near veggie-head diet. But it sounds like you are in need of a consult with a nutritionist. I wish you well and good health. Enjoy life to the fullest.

If you don't like the fake meat then try pasta. When i was a vegetarian i replaced allot of my meals with rice and pasta. Try lots of protein like peanut butter. There is allot of alternatives to meat.
