I am a bachelor and I really do not mind cooking, and I actually think I do pretty well, but my problem comes in creativity. I seem to have the same meals over and over, I have about 8-10 things in the rotation, and I start to get tired of these meals sometimes and that is when I start to eat out (Which I hate to do). Does anybody have any suggestions of good meals I can add to my lineup??? Here are my criteria:

1. somewhat inexpensive
2. fairly easy and quick to prepare
3. easy to prepare small portions ( I dont like to waste food)

It would appear to make sense that reconstituted powdered milk would suffice in recipes calling for whole milk--but I've read from some sources that this is not the same, that you would have to add butter or something. So, if I didn't have any whole milk on hand, just powdered milk, would it still be possible for me to use this in recipes such as custard? How would this affect the custard recipe? Or if I used the reconstituted milk in cake or muffin recipes?

Recently, I began to want to up my fiber intake (high cholesterol). I decided to purchase a large container of coarse milled unflavored Metamucil (I didn't want artificial flavoring and coloring). It was only when I got home that I realized how awful the stuff was! I have since looked to high-fiber cereal to fulfill my fiber need. However, I still have this huge bottle of Metamucil sitting around collecting dust. Does anyone have some recipes (NOT drinks) for using Metamucil? I specifically am thinking, is it possible to make a flatbread kind of thing using Metamucil instead of a flour? Thanks!

I am so hungry right now. All I have is junk food. Next time I go to the grocery store, I'm going to have to grab some things I can make in my dorm. The only cooking appliances I can have are a microwave and an electric tea kettle. It kinda sucks. What are your ideas?

For 25 cents at the general store you could get a little coke bottle from the pull out machine and a nickle candy bar like Snickers and a big Bub's Daddy long rope of bubble gum ????

I am uncertain about the wisdom of an instruction in Mr. Richard Grausman's book "At Home With the French Classics." In his recipe for Roast Stuffed Chicken with Truffles, he suggests that the chicken may be truffled one to two days in advance and then refrigerated. If this is done, he instructs, the chicken must then be brought to room temperature before proceeding with the stuffing and roasting.

Is there any danger in leaving a 5-pound chicken sitting out long enough to reach room temperature? I assume Mr. Grausman has used this method without ill effects, but it just seemed a little, well, icky to me. Any thoughts?

I am cooking chicken wings for the super bowl tomorrow and I found them to be badly freezer-burned. Can you get sick from foods that are like this, and if yes what are the symptoms?

I always do all the cooking in one pot ie:browning the pork, onions , garlic. Then sometimes I add mushrooms, and shredded carrots. after that spices, and water til its boiling. Finally the rice, but by the time I get to the rice I feel like I'm adding it to stew. My rice is either undercooked or mushy. I kind of want to do all the cooking in one pot for flavor( it does taste good). I'm just having a problem with the way the rice comes out.
