RE:
Recipes for Metamucil?
Recently, I began to want to up my fiber intake (high cholesterol). I decided to purchase a large container of coarse milled unflavored Metamucil (I didn't want artificial flavoring and coloring). It was only when I got home that I realized how awful the stuff was! I have since looked to...

My conscience says that I HAVE to give you this warning.
Metamucil and like products are intentionally made to
counter-act constipation by adding fiber in the colon which
holds water, which flushes out the intestines.
The WARNING IS; if you use these products and really
all high fiber foods such as All-Bran, Raisen Bran, etc.
without drinking sufficient water, you could get blocked
intestines where nothing moved. These types of fibers are
to be taken in minimal quantities, followed by at least
16 oz of water. (best drinking 16 oz. every 2-3 hours.)
Compacted bowels are dangerous and could mean
surgery. There is also too much fiber--It must be flushed
through the system.

Metamucil makes tablets like vitamins that you can take. You don't have to taste it. Buy them instead of the powder.
That said,
Fiber helps your bowel movements. It is the part of plants(veggies) that our bodies can't break down..and it helps flush our bowels out. It doesn't help lower your cholesterol, so to speak.
If you have high cholesteral, you want to eat/use foods that fight that....such as olive oil, fish oil, alvcado, black olives.
Watch you carb intake, also.
When you eat vegetables...you get fiber....is that what you mean by wanting to increase your fiber intake? Because your body doesn't absorb fiber...it flushes it out.
Do you mean that you want to eat more veggies, less food from animals? After all, cholesterol comes from foods which comes from animals.
( I eat meat if you care).
Taking metamucil will help your bowels, since that is the part of veggies (the cell wall) that our body can't break down(digest). It won't lower your cholesterol.
And doesn't have the vitamins that the actual veggies have. So I'm confused about why you want to duplicate metamucil.
I wish you luck.
I think you need to read about where cholesteral comes from (besides the hereditary factor). The types of foods that fight it. (there is good fat and bad fat, good cholesteral and bad cholesteral).
I also think you need to read about where fiber comes from. And what it is.
Also, i really beleive that Atkins diet will help you...even if you don't do it...it contains information about fats/ sugars/ carbs...and how and when the bad fat is burned, and the good fats that help.
www.atkins.com
Anyway, I hope all that information helps...

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU0ut
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

It's a fiber supplement that is generally used either as a laxative or to maintain regular bowel movements. I don't know why it's necessary in your recipe but...yeah. Any drugstore will have it.

Maybe if you just sprinkled it on your cereal, it won't taste so bad. I suppose you can add it to any food. I just never heard of doing that. Add some to your flat-bread but don't use it instead of flour. It can't take the place of flour.
