As a 47 man who lives alone my doctor just advised me to take up a diet to prevent diabetes, he said my glucose level was 6.9 & I should cut sweet things out, along with pasta, potatoes, bread, eat more vegies than fruit, but as a basic Australian diet I dont eat any take away foods at all, I cook everything. I use healthy olive & canola oils for cooking what else can I do, is thier a web site that I could find diabetic friendly recipe's? I tried google but that was as much help as hip pockets on a G'string! (a thong in USA) thanks for all the help.

My boyfriends family are due to arrive in the UK from Iran next week and we are preparing them a welcome meal and party. I need a big recipie as his parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters will be joining us. I have cooked for his cousin before, but as she was wearing a burkha I couldnt really judge her reaction to my roast vegetable and spinach frittata. As she speaks no English, I had to rely on my boyfriends translation. I'm thinking I should cook a Korma to remind them of home? Ideas?

I know the purist will call this blasphemy, but today I went to a local restaurant in town which is known for serving very good tea. The way they make it is they take ground up tea leaves, place it in a coffee maker and pour hot water at the top of the machine. Within 3 minutes, they have a great pot of tea.

Have others here tried this?

I really love spaghetti O's cold right out of the can. ---- We have real food also. But when I give it to my kid, I eat most of it.

I live in New York, and I can't read japanese. I like takoyaki and I'd like to make them. Problem is finding the ingredients can be difficult. I'm assuming there must be a simple way to obtain ingredients, perhaps by substituting something for a similar, easily obtainable ingredient.

I know this has been asked many times before but I found a great one. Tried it today. Awesome. Thought I'd turn on my fellow YA's.
This recipe is from Marco Pierre White found in the book, "HEAT".
Bring eggs to room temp. Do not scamble in a bowl. Scamble in a very low heat skillet in melted butter. Use a spatula to scamble over low heat. You will have bits of white and yellow. Delicious.
Try it and let me know if you agree.

I tasted a cake when I visited the Philippines that was delicious, and was so light and fluffy; not like the cakes I'm used to in the U.S., which are heavy and often too sweet.
This cake had a delicate, only slightly sweet taste.

Why are Americans crazy about beer? Socializing aside, what aspect is the attraction? The taste? The carbonation? The alcohol? I tried it and it tasted like crap (very bitter). Why the obsession?
