I wasn't able to spend my boyfriend's brithday with him. But when we get back I am making it up to him. (I kno were not married but I feel like i get more serious/mature answers when I post here) I'm making him breakfast in bed, decorating his apt, making him dinner, and a birthday cake. But I need help because I don't know what to do during the day.. between breakfast and our candle lit dinner lol. I dont want anytime to go by that we aren't doing something. One problem though I am COMPLETELY BROKE =( I have no idea what to do for a present or what to do for the day. I really want him to have an amazing day because his actual brithday wasn't a good one for him. Please help me everyone.. This is really bothering me, I don't want to let him down =( I mean he'd be happy with whatever I came up with.. but I just want it to be a birthday he will remember.. he hasn't really had a good one before. Thanks for whoever helps me :) By the way he is 21 and doesn't drink.

I am not sure how to set people up in our receiving line after our ceremony. Do I need to include all the bridesmaids and groomsmen in the line? Also, do ushers dismiss the guests from the pews after the ceremony so they then file through the receiving line?

On the side, I make invitations from my home. They are "message in a bottle" invitations. I am proud of my work and I do them quite well! I know that I have the best prices, too. I can't seem to get my name out there, though. How can I get more business? I already advertise on Craigslist.
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend nice places in Birmingham, UK to have a wedding reception?

2007-08-11 06:43:23 · 6 answers · asked by Rebz 5

I don't understand this. Why is this acceptable? Does anyone else agree it's rude? Reasons why I think it's rude:

-your guests travel to your reception site, get dressed up, buy and gift.....AND you expect them to bring their own food. OMG, rude

-Sanitary Reasons. I've worked in restuarants and catering. I know a lot about food safety and such. How are you sure people use proper sanitaization in their home kitchens? Are you sure they don't have bugs? Did they wash their hands while preparing food? Was it cross contimated with raw chicken or egg?

As a guest, I don't eat potluck unless I know every single person present. If I don't know you, how can I be sure what I'm eating is sanitary. Just grosses me out and you never know every single person there.

-What if you invite 50 people and only 25 bring food. How are you going to feed all those people?

-What if the guest can't afford to bring anything. Say Great Aunt Jane lives on a fixed income

I was on an online dating site when a Russian woman contacted me. That's how I found out about the mail bride thing. I have done some research on several web sites about mail bride scam. I read that if she contacted you first is more than likely that she is a scammer, it's that true?

i'm a 44 year old divorced, school teacher. i have known this particular 19 years-old gal since she was 17. i have done everything possible to be in her good books like providing her with pocket money, as well as fetching and sending her back to her college which is many hundred miles away from where her folks and i live. earlier her family coaxed me into an engagement with her which i accepted though i wasnt financially stable yet (my divorce settlement squeezed every last penny out of my pocket). the wedding was planned for next year. 3 mnths after the engagement, the gal asked 4 d engagement to be broken off. for ur info, i am more embarassed than angry coz at such a matured age, i could not see the game she was playing. her parents have dared to say a word about it. i am wondering, why they asked me to propose and get engaged with the gal in the 1st place without making sure she was ready for it?

My friend is getting married, and her sister is throwing her a lingerie shower but she already has so much lingerie. What kind of gifts could I give that may be good for pampering or something of the like?

I am having a wedding shower for friends (co-ed) at their favorite local pub and was wondering if it would be too tacky to have a cash bar? I of course would do everything else: food, cake, non-alcoholic drinks etc., but I really can't afford to pay the bar bill.

Do you know of any website I can go to find something along the lines of a "fake" marriage to perform? Ok here's the deal... My friend Crystal and her fiance would like to get married. They truly are in love with each other and plan to get married but when they can afford it. Is there such a website or something where they can get ideas of vows to say to each other so that in a way they are married but not legally with papers? They want to do this in their own private ceremony together. So almost as if it were a wedding but really just saying they are committed to one another in other words...

I was thinking of eloping with my fiance since we don't have the money to get married since I was duped out of the lump sum of money I was supposed to get. Our parents offered to pay for the wedding but they disagreed about the plans so we decided not to take their money. I really want a wedding but I can't really afford. We were planning on getting married next July but I know in order to have a good wedding you have to plan way in advanced. I'm not sure how romantic eloping is. I was hoping to have a wedding with the colors, bridesmaids, cakes and champagne and danceing but I can't afford it. so is eloping the solution?

We just found the perfect house and our wedding is being planned for June 14, 2008. We need a little extra to put down on the house and I am thinking of using our wedding money and just going to the court house to get married. I am not really a sentimental person but I do not know if I might one day regret not having our wedding. But let me stress that we REALLY want this house. Should we blow off the wedding and buy the house (and get married now at the Justice of the Peace) or continue with our wedding plans?

If you did something similar, do you regret it? Would you do something different?

I am getting married soon....and I am appalled at the price of wedding photographers. My husband and I are both attorneys (i.e. make good salaries), but have no desire to spend thousands of dollars on a photographer! We just want photos to keep the memories, nothing fancy. We are having a small American style ceremony followed by a Chinese style banquet (I am Caucasian) and he is Chinese. We have kept the other costs very low while still planning a classy gathering (small guest list, the chinese banquet is quite inexpensive, etc). What have other savvy brides to be done to avoid these outrageous costs? (so far, the entire bill is coming up to about only $10500.) I considered having a friend who is an amateur photographer serve as our wedding photographer, which he offered to do for free, but I will probably pay him $250 anyways. I didn't know if this was a good idea...has anyone else done it? (we are in los angeles and getting married in santa barbara)

We've known eachother for 7 years . we've been dating for a year and are both madly in love. & have both expressed a desire to marry eachother. We've also both been engaged before. I want a ring, but he beleives that getting engaged is a curse because of what happened with his ex. instead he wants to just up and marry me. we both want a big wedding, I've tried explaining to him how long it really takes to plan a wedding. I don't measure love by money, but i feel like I deserve a ring considering his ex got one. What should I do?

Okay, so I have a backyard bbq, how classy are burgers and wieners? How on earth could I make this less like a children's birthday party? and then how do I get the guests to leave?!!!
