I am the piano player in my best friend's wedding. I want to show her how much I appreciate her by either playing her a song with nice lyrics that I can sing, or by reading her a nice poem or something. I'd prefer the song, so if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!

My brother is getting married. He keeps telling me guys want to marry sweet looking innocent girls, who yet at the same time still posess real and natural beauty...He thinks his fiancee is all of above. She's the one on the left. What do you guys think of her? (just first impression)

So our prime fixe meal that we have selected for our reception includes a dessert (tarts w/assorted fruit, chocolate silk cake, lemon chantilly, white chocolate cheescake w/berries).

I have heard that years ago, you would serve dessert and then people would take home a piece of cake as a favor. That just sounds weird to me. Every wedding that I have been to we just ate wedding cake. I hate to not serve the dessert from the caterer since we are already paying for it, but I really wanted to have a wedding cake. Do I serve both? I love sweets so I don't mind, but will people want to eat both? Do I serve at the same time?

I was thinking about serving the wedding cake and then after dinner and dessert I was going to have them set-up a "sweets" table with the desserts and some cookies and coffee so that if anyone is interested they can grab something on their own.

I live in Boston, but I grew up in St. Louis, so my wedding is there. I am trying to think of a way to avoid shipping 50-75 wedding gifts from St. Louis back to Boston after the wedding. The cost of shipping them all would in some cases cost more than the gift itself, I think!
What if my registry were set up so that a guest could go into any store in the national chain (say Target, for example) and purchase a gift from the registry, but instead of the guest taking that item home and then to the wedding as a gift, I would pick up the item in a Target in Boston? Same as when you call a store in Town 1, and they don't have it, but that same item is available in Town 2. Does anyone do this? I can't be the first bride to encounter this problem.

I was thinking about not having any bridesmaids or groomsmen at my wedding. I was just wondering what their responsibilities are. I know they're suppose to be in charge of the bachelor and bachelorette parties, but I don't want one. What else are they in charge of?

She works as a mail carrier, he is a soldier preparing for deployment. Tomorrow during the toast, they will allow anyone who wants to bestow a bit of advice the chance to speak.

The person with the best advice gets the ten points, and will be acknowledged during the reception tomorrow!

okay I am getting married this coming April and this sunday we got several messages from our best man, he was all drunk and wasted saying he was in the hospital and my FI father got several messages from him that he got a girl pregnant. An hour later he called and said he was kidding. this isnt the first time he did something like this and him being the best man wasnt really our choice. while he was drunk he was saying how he was going coming to the wedding buzzed. My FI payed for his deposit on a tux and even got him out of jail a few times, he even picked him up at 3 somedays. So we told him we are sorry but we cant have him be the best man, now my FI grandma is not going to the wedding because of this. everytime, they get in a arguement, his grandma is alway on his brothers side. FI brother is also denied the whole thing and convince others not to come. we have saved the messages he has left. fi grandmother dont want us to come over either!!

my good girlfriend from college asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding this august. i initially told her yes, but am now having regrets. i live across the country and will have a hard time fulfilling all the bridesmaid "requirements". i can only afford to fly in for one shower, and will most likely miss the bachelorette party. on top of the fact that i'm going to have to ask for extra time off from work . . . has anyone ever pulled out of being a bridesmaid? can this be done or do i just have to tough it out? should i add that we're not as close as we used to be and that the dress is really ugly . . .

My fiancee and I are eloping to Buffalo city hall in May. We're going out to dinner, lighting a candle at the Father Baker Cathedral and then walking around the Botanical Gardens. That evening, we'll spend the night at a hotel downtown. I'm going to make a basket for us. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can include and how I can make the night romantic?

These are my ideas so far:
1. Wine
2. Wine glasses
3. Candles
4. Jazz CD
5. Hershey Kisses
6. Massage Oil

Can you think of anything else?

Ok so here's the deal...my best friend in the whole wide world just happens to be a guy (yes he's gay, no comments from the peanut gallery please) and I am getting married 7-7-07. I really want him to stand with my girls but I am getting weird responses from the grooms family. I don't think that there is anything wrong with this, its not like he is wearing a dress or anything. Any ideas on how to make him mesh better with the whole thing?

We are on a strict budget for our wedding and based on the quotes I've been told, we can't afford a florist. A friend of my Mother told us that we should buy real flowers in bulk online and just do the arrangements ourselves. (that's what they did at her daughters wedding) I love the idea, especially since we aren't doing that many decorations. My fiancee is afraid real flowers will be too much work since we have to care for them overnight. My question is, for those who did their own flowers, how do I know how much to order? Whether I go with silk or real I don't want to overbuy. I do have a floral book that I'm getting ideas from. Also, If it ends up being easier can I mixed silk flowers with real, or is that tacky? The bouquets and stuff will be real. Any advice would be a great help!

We're marrying in June. We've both been thru this before. Tho we're not doing anything elaborate, we're still paying out some money for various things.
Does it seem a sound financial suggestion to buy inexpensive rings (Overstock.com) for our ceremony but buy the rings we really want ($420) for my b-day present in October? I'll be turning 40 and he's surely going to wonder what to get me, anyway. AND, it will also mark our two year anniversary of being together.
I figured that's $420 we don't have to be concerned with RIGHT NOW but can save up for it by October, yet still have rings to present at the ceremony and wear until we get the ones we really want a few months later.

My Sister's getting married this October & I'm the Matron-of-honor.

She has requested no showers of any kind & they (my Sister & Brother-in-law to be) will be treating us (their family & friends) to a relaxing day at the spa the Friday before the wedding. They do not want a Bachelorette/Bachelor Party, a rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, reception...anything. They have also requested no gifts.

I would really like to throw her a lingerie party, but am not sure of it would be inappropriate for me to do so.

I have talked to my soon to be Brother-in-law & he has no objections to whatever type of party I would like to host for her, but I don't want it to look like I am doing something that I would want, rather than what she wants.

I don't think the issue is that they don't want a party...I think it's because most of their friends and siblings have kids & they don't want us spending money on them, when they can afford to buy their own things.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments?
