We're marrying in June. We've both been thru this before. Tho we're not doing anything elaborate, we're still paying out some money for various things.
Does it seem a sound financial suggestion to buy inexpensive rings (Overstock.com) for our ceremony but buy the rings we really want ($420) for my b-day present in October? I'll be turning 40 and he's surely going to wonder what to get me, anyway. AND, it will also mark our two year anniversary of being together.
I figured that's $420 we don't have to be concerned with RIGHT NOW but can save up for it by October, yet still have rings to present at the ceremony and wear until we get the ones we really want a few months later.

I think it is a good idea if you are both on the same page. Overstock is a nice company and has coupons at http://www.24houredeals.com/Overstock-coupons-71-mer.html if you need them.

Good luck.

I guess I'm the only one that disagrees! That money you put into the 'now' rings is just money wasted if you're going to replace them in October. Besides, they will never have the same significance as the rings you used at the ceremony.

Whatever you decide... the best of luck on this second time around :)

Promise rings at the instant are not comparable to engagement rings. A promise ring is a hoop promising to stay authentic to a minimum of one yet another. there remains no promise of marrying with a promise ring. An engagement ring is a hoop that symbolized that the two people conform to get married and plan a marriage interior the close to destiny

It is a good idea. You could even get the rings you really want to celebrate your first anniversary. This would further tie them into your commitment to each other.

I think it a very smart as long as you have the love, rings are just material possession. Do what you think works for you it makes sense to me and well makes your b-day gift an easy one guys love that.
Congrats and God Bless!

Sounds like a good plan. If you're both happy with it, and it relieves financial stress, then why not?
