My boyfriend and I have been together for two years, he is a wonderful loving man, who has been married once before. we are both professional people with great jobs. We are in our late 40's so I think his thinking is a little weird, but he thinks that he cannot afford an engagement ring and thinks we are too old to bother with it - I think it would be nice to have a ring - it does not have to be expensive or big or anything - it is just that I never had an engagement ring from someone I love and just feel it is kinda important....maybe I am just too materialistic?

I am getting ready to start planning destination wedding. We have not chosen the location yet but I'm thinking the carribbean. We would like to pay for some/all of our guests' rooms (up to 50 people). I originally wanted to rent a villa but can't seem to find any to accomodate that many people. Does anyone have any recommendations on a location/resort where I can get a good price for such a large group? I have heard that weddings at the chain resorts like Sandals and Beaches are very cookie cutter which is why I was thinking a villa would be better. Does anyone know of a large villa that is part of a resort? Maybe some guests can stay at the hotel and family in the villa? I am open to any ideas/recommendations.

I never knew this would be SO complicated!

We just got engaged and are searching for a ring now. Initially I liked the emerald cut, but it was missing some ummph. The princess and radiants have bling, but I see too many of them on everybody else. I just saw some nice looking Asscher Cut rings that appear classy, yet stand out because of the unique design. Do you know anything about this particular cut? Have you seen some beautiful Asscher Cut diamond rings personally?

If you register at Walmart, then can you put a gift card on it? My fiance and I are still in college and already have most of the items we would want/need because my parents already have bought everything for me to help me when I move out (so it is all new). Therefore, we would like money instead of gifts, but I know it is not proper to ask for money. So, i thought this might be better if they offer it.

My son's father and I are planning our wedding and would like to incorporate our son somehow into the wedding party. At the time of our wedding, he will be 18 months old. He is a little too young to be the ring bearer as he can't walk down the aisle on cue. Our flower girl will be almost 3 at the time, but we are not sure if she would be able to walk with him down the aisle and keep him focused should he get nervous or distracted, as they are cousins and my son tends not to listen to her. Would it be appropriate for him to be accompanied by one of my bridesmaids (which would also be one of his aunts, so someone he knows very well), as I have one more bridesmaid than my fiancé does groomsmen? Or are there any other jobs I can have my son do to be part of the wedding party?

I've not spoken to my close female friend for 3 months as we got to close.I told her that I wanted no contact so that I could get over my feelings for her. She only wanted to be friends.

She's txt bck:i really do not have the energy to keep explaining things to you.I will be civil but i'm afraid i feel the close friendship is lost...........

We MET ON FRIDAY at a friends party,we spoke a lot,but she still looked hurt+uncomfortable at times.

I apologised for hurting her i.e. wanting no contact - she snaped bck saying YOU NEVER HURT ME! GOOD/BAD RESPONSE??

I asked her if she'll join us on our group roadtrips - she said YES! - A POSITIVE SIGN OF FRIENDSHIP RESTARTING???

As she left I said that hopefully/possibly see you in a few months -she replied I'll see you at the roadtrip - we said bye and she gave me a tight hug - ANOTHER POSITIVE SIGN???

She needed a hug from my mate as it was too much for her to take in!

IS THE FRIENDSHIP REALLY LOST???Why she hurt???

I'm going to a wedding at the end of May. I haven't gotten my official invite, but I'm good friends with the couple and they've told me I'm invited. How early should I try and get a date? There's a guy I know I want to go with...should I go ahead and ask or wait until I get the invite?

I've been engaged for about a week. So far we have plans to get married abroad, just the two of us, then come back to a huge reception. My family prefers I have a wedding where they can come though. The main reason I don't want to have a wedding is that I don't really have people who can be bridesmaids. I graduated high school early then transferred so many times in college that I just really dont have any really close girlfriends anymore. I feel pretty embarrased and upset that I don't have people to choose as bridesmaids. Are bridesmaids necessary? Can I just stand up there alone with my fiance and still walk down the aisle?

My best friend and who I wanted to be my maid of honor says she can't be in my wedding cuz she has summer classes. At first she asked me to change the date for her, but my fiances' brother is in the military and the date we are getting married works for him and everyone else. The classes are only 5 wks long. And she says she can't get out of it. What do I do? Do I get upset ? Is it selfish that I think that she could make more of an effort? Or even take the classes in early fall? She lives in Cali. And I live in Mi. We have been friends for 15 yrs!

Why do people think that it is rude, tacky or even wrong to ask for money instead of a bought gift as a wedding present?

Gifts are a big part of the Wedding day. Guests love to spoil a newly married couple, and they especially love to give them something they actually want.

In some cultures money is all that is given, and in other cultures, money is actually pinned to the Bride and Groom's clothing!

I've even heard people say that adding a gift list to an invitation is wrong, when actually it is the correct ettiquette to do so.

Where have these views come from?

I have a problem. I want to invite some of my family to my wedding, but not all. I have never been close with one of my aunts, or her children - or spawn, as I like to call them. Even though we all grew up together and appeared as a tight knit family, I always felt uncormfortable around them. Now, I wanted to invite my other aunt and an uncle. I understand it is my day and I should invite who I want, but that's not how it works with my family. My dad would never hear the end of it and I don't want to do that to him. So, since I absolutely refuse to invite my aunt and her clan, should I really just leave the rest of my family out of my wedding? I am really torn because I hear from some to leave them all out and others say to suck it up and invite everyone and then people tell me to invite who I want. I don't want to hurt any feelings, but I don't want to feel uncomfortable at my own weddiing! Thanks ahead for any advice!

My Mom and I are getting ready to make up my invitations for my wedding in May and was wondering if it was "tacky" to have people RSVP via phone or email. We just think it might be easier for people to call or email us.

Thanks!
