I am getting married in May, and I have no clue as to how many will attend. Do I have to pay to reserve a block of rooms?

As a bridal consultant, I actually had to do this very thing for a client. She actually called herself and got one rate, I called and got an even cheaper rate. The key is to speak to the right people, either the hotel manager or if you are getting married at the hotel, the people in chargeof the wedding planning at the hotel. Be charming and push a little. Let them know that all of these people are coming to be with you and will stay where you tell them, and therefore tell the hotel to make it worth your while to have your guests stay there!....Excalibur was the best in dealing with us and giving us specials and extra stuff.....

Best of luck to ya!

Your best bet would be to call the hotel and find out their policy, as most of them will be different from each other. Usually a block of rooms is put into the contract ... so, for example, say you're inviting 200 people ... you'll need at least 80 rooms.

You tell the hotel to block off 80 rooms for your guests and they will get a special price ... before a certain date, if those rooms aren't reserved, then they are let go to the general public. However, if you guarantee 80 rooms and only 60 are booked then you'll have to pay for the other 20.

You're best bet would be to call the hotel you're interested in because their policy might be different.

It depends on the hotel, some will want a deposit or a guarantee of a certain number of rooms (usually 10) for at least 2 or 3 nights in order to get a group rate. You'll have to call hotels directly. Some will require a deposit, some won't. Most will though.

You will have to call the hotel directly...they may charge your credit card for the first night just to hold the rooms. They may also just take your credit card number to guarantee the room but I do believe that in Vegas you have to cancel like a week in advance or your card will be be charged. Your best bet is to call the hotel directly and ask to speak with someone in group reservations.
