I don't think it's our opinions that matter. You know your wife, what she is expecting from this day, and what she expects from you. Are you always a comedian and this would be totally something she expects from you, or would this possible take her completely by surprise and her reaction would be a total toss up? If she knows you as always being the big prankster and hasn't given you specific instructions to be well behaved, I might ask her what she thinks about practical jokes during the ceremony without giving away what you had planned. But definitely be clear on what she would be ok with. If you're in doubt -- don't do it. This day only happens once, and it's something she has been waiting for all her life. If you spoil it for her, she'll never forgive you.

That would be quite funny, however I would recommend that the humor be saved for the reception. This is where people are ready to let down their hair down and have fun. I have witnessed some funny stunts there that made me laugh so hard I cried. The reception is where the humor belongs not in a church.

38 seconds is a long time. however i think its funny. i dont think its church approriate. if there was a way that it was not in church and maybe not as long, i would say do it. but you runt he risk of looking like an insensitive guy (which i'm sure you are not...you're just humorous) and possibly upsetting your wife if you dont think she would find it funny. put some serious thought in to that one...and hopefully your joke is taken well. good idea though.

It may seem funny to you but it could cause irreparable harm to your marriage if you did that. Most women perceive a renewal fo vows as something splendidly romantic. You would be perceived as trivializing the importance of the moment. Don't mess with your wedding vows--even the renewed ones--if you want them to be taken seriously.

the friggin grooms men at my wedding hummed that damn song, but it was funny... but 38 seconds is too long, it will stop being funny after 5 seconds! plus, does your soon to be wife have a sense of humor? she might take offense or be embarressed... some girls kinda take getting married seriously, ya know??? LOL!!

Unless your wife has an extremely good sense of humor...You don't mess with a womans marriage..even if its for renewal vows. Its a serious moment. Make it that way.. She will appreciate it and love you even more.

I usually answer questions here to be a prick, I give bad advice and promote people to do stupid stuff. This on the other hand is different. We as men can think of a wedding as another day where we "tie the knot" for a woman its the day they've been waiting for since 4-5. Don't try to be funny, be romantic. think it over man, treat her special.

I would be sad if my fiance' even suggested that. I'd feel bad if I were a guest at a wedding where that happened. Weddings or renewing vows are serious, save the joking for the reception or get together afterwards.

That is hilarious. I would be pissed if my fiance did that though!! But, since you are renewing your vows - I think everyone would think it was funny! If your wife knows your sense of humor then you should be fine!! :)

Hopefully your wife understands your sense of humor by now.
I see no harm in your suggestion. Might want to shorten it just a bit.
Just make sure your officiant finds it as humorous.
