Marriage & Divorce - 19 September 2006

Dont you think that people should work on a "problem" in their marriage instead of adding to it? You take an oath before GOD to love and honor till death, not till it gets tough. If couples would take what they have and cherish it instead of thinking that they "need" more to make them happy, we would put the divorce lawyers out of business. Take a moment to really look at your life and your spouse. If you could eliminate some of the stress in your life, dont you think your relationship would be breathtaking?

He's gone. After 15 years of marriage. He went to councellor this morning and called me from his office to say that he has to be alone to work out his issues. He came home an hour later and I sat back and watched him pack his clothes.....how do you stay strong?

I need to increase my wifes drive badly. My wife makes me feel like I am an overly horney person for wanting it a few times a week. It is making me feel very unneeded. I have talked to her about it, cleaned the house often, brought home flowers, and given her good massages. I am freash out of ideas. HELP!

I'm in my freshman year of college with two kids. Tremaine and Tyrian. Tremaine is 4 and Tyrain is 9 months. My boyfriend and I have been together for about 6 years and he is the father of both my kids. He wants to get married. Should I get married or wait until I graduate from college? He is in his freshman year of college also. We both can support ourselves and he is a great father. But I am questionable about marriage. Any suggestions?

Half of my coworkers are divorced. All of them say that they wished that they had tried harder or didn't divorce, even the guys, all of whom have married hot young things since the divorce.

I've got a short list started, and I'd love it to stay short. Please add to and comment on this list.
When I say basically all, I mean 80 to 99%, depending on the thing.
And don't worry, I'm aware that there are just as many things on the male side, and that the bad behavior of men trigger some of these things in their women. Also note that I am not implying that 80 to 99% of women have these traits to a large degree, but at least enough to be annoying to a thinking man.
Here's my list:
-Expecting their man to know what their woman wants and what they've done to make their woman angry without her communicating that in any direct way.

-Keeping score differently, often illogically, but certainly keeping score. Knowing they're not being logical in arguments with their man.

-Presuming that their man is the less "civilized" between the two of them.

-Resenting their man if THEY ARE ABLE TO go out with their friends more than the woman does/can.

My hubby and I have been doing this for years, but I have recently found out that not many other people do this. They say there is no mystery left between us, but if we are married, should there be any mystery between us? I just thought I would throw this question to the masses and see what comes out!!!!

Ok, I have a friend who has been common law married for about 15 years. He and his wife are splitting up. Should either of them decide to get married (common law or otherwise) in the future could they be accused of polygamy? Is there such a thing as a formal common law divorce?

They live in Texas. Is this a state law type of thing?

My wife is not giving me anyhting as far as any emotions are concerned. I try to keep everything fresh and do all that I can, but without the effort coming from both of us it wears me out. It's almost she is depressed or just completely unhappy with the life that we have and I am stuck having to deal with it and trying t ofigure out to help her, when it really needs to come from within. I do not want to quit, but I can't be the only one trying. I want and deserve more.

It is a joke that pepole use to justify calling it quits when the going got tough. In my neighborhood, three couples, the husband and the new wife live down the street from the ex wife and kids. I believe that is a bit sick. But hey, this is do what you want America.
I am not saying that you should enemies. Why not like cordial people on a bus?

My husband injured his knee and he is in a lot of pain. I’ve been there for him as much as possible. But I have to work and he is really needy these days and he is getting depressed about having to miss work. And is pretty irritable and wants me to take care of him 24/7. Anyway, he is scheduled for surgery next week. I’m trying to be patient as possible but it’s hard. We usually have a really close marriage. Any good advice?

My wife and I have always disagreed about the need for separate vacations. Now, she and her friend booked themselves on a cruise and kept the arrangements from me until 2 weeks before. They had booked it 6 moths earlier. Now, I wonder what else she has been keeping from me. She claims it was to avoid a confrontation, but the lying and deception has only added fuel to the fire. I don't know where to turn. I have read that separate vacations only work where their has been discussion and some level of mutual understanding. There has been no such thing working here. All I see is me being left out yet again. I feel that I cannot trust her anymore.
