rarely. because once you lose respect, you lose trust. Once you have that double whammy in your marriage...it's just not enjoyable.

You just kinda co-exsist at that point.

its unlikely that it would last, however, are you sitting back waiting for him to do something or are you being a helpmate?

many wives have unrealistic expectatoins from their husbands and expect them to solve all problems. i dont know what the reason was for your loss of respect, but i would be willing to bet that you are no help to him when things are not going well. are you distancing yourself from the problems and dumping he load on him to resolve alone? marriage is a partnership, when you dont hold up your end, then problems can become overwhelming. if you do all you can to assist him when things are tough, then you have at least tried, if not then you have failed the marriage ... perhaps you need to look in the mirror when you are referring to loss of respect and "not so hot as a marriage partner"

No, because you become bitter in the end. Respect is a very important part of marriage. I lost it for my husband as well, who likes to destroy things when he gets angry. How can you respect someone who throws things to cause damage. Again, no it can't last.

You should think about what made you lose respect for him in the first place and if it is over something petty then you should think what you can do to improve your marriage. If it something serious like cheating or him hitting you then you need to get out of the marriage.

How does he feel about you? Marriage is a two-way deal, ya know? If you don't have the love and respect of each other, there's no sense in staying in a miserable situation. Life's to short for that. If you're already questioning your feelings for him, chances are it's not in his favor...unless he's a saint...which he'd need to be to re-gain your respect.

If you're not yet married, I say don't do it.

It can if both sides work at resolving any issues that are causing the lack of respect. If either is unwilling to admit that there are problems and be willing to work on them it is doomed.

Nope. A lot of people like to be respected. They like to think their opinions mean something. When you start disrespecting someone, don't expect them to stay around long. Something to think about. Best wishes.
