I think that everyone has a different opinion of the duties of a wife. Personally I think a couple should discuss this and come to an agreement BEFORE they get married so there are no suprises. Will she work outside the home, will she be an at home mom, will she work part time or full time? All these things should be determining factors on her duties in a marraige.

You are getting it all wrong.. Wife's don't have duties in what year are you in? When you love someone and married them they each help one another. It's not because you have to do it.. Now in days in most of the cases both the man and the lady go to work to maintain a home. So they both have to help each other in the house. But if the lady stays at home my believes are men should help out as well. Many house wife's don't get the respect they deserve. It's not an easy task, plus they don't even get paid for nothing.. So I believe in a marriage weather the lady goes to work or stays at home. The man should always help out and respect the lady..

The same as the husband. Respect, loyalty, honesty, etc. Sounds like you are having some problems there. You might want to keep in mind that you wouldn't want someone telling you what a husbands' duties are, especially from one who is a jerk. I understand you are military, but remember you take a wife to be your partner in life. Keep reminding yourself of that.

Just the same as duties of a husband..
Usually if people made it last till marriage they can arrange household and so on. If a man works then usually a woman makes more at home and vice versa.
If you both work then you have to take some time and plan who does what and when.
Dont let the routine spoil your marriage.

To love her man. Provide him with the best sex of is life everytime. Plus other stuff like, being honest, taking care of the home, making sure your both happy, respectful, understanding and being a friend at all time. And of course gettin the man to be pro-active in the home wher chores and duties are concern. Making him a MAN.

Does that satisfy your answer?

They are the same duties as those of the man. To love, care for, and support their spouse. Remember, marriage is a relationship of equals. Don't ask or expect your wife to do something for you that you wouldn't do for her.

duties? what's the husband's duties? I feel you should be equal in all and not lay out duties. duties makes it sound so formal or business like.

Oh my goodness...I would expect that this could be a very contentuous topic. I believe that a healthy marriage allows for both individual expression as well as a division of "life responsibilities" that allow the couple to provide for the needs of the marriage / family. As for specific "duties", I believe that this notion is somewhat passé...a product of the 1950's.

That depends on the marriage and people involved. There are no set "duties". Marriage is about compromise and helping each other through life.

Wow, you got a lot of answers from American women, I can tell. The woman is the weaker vessel. You are to love her, cherish her, protect her, and be her head (as in the head of the house). She is to deeply respect you, care for you, support your decisions (which are made with her in mind). that means if you screw up, she would say "It's OK, we can fix it" and not "See... I TOLD you so. That's the American womans way. They want to control the man, belittle him, make the decisions, and it isn't their place. When a real woman does her part, and a real man does his part, things work great and there is no bickering and only minor problems they can easily work through. Best choice are Asian women, many of them understand their role in life, and are very happy being women, and their men are happy to be with them. I know I cherish my wife, because of her wonderful qualities. She is a real lady and just happens to be Asian.
