I was married for 21 years. Married when I was pregnant and very young. We had 3 children together. He was abusive to me and our children. I was able to get away with my kids and we are now safe. He's out of our lives because he is in jail. He's due to get released in the next 2 years. I still live in fear of him emotionally and when he's released it will be physically. I have had a couple other relationships since my divorce (good guys) but, I always have a problem with trusting and letting down my guard to my heart. My children are now grown and are doing good but, I can't seem to get over the abuse. I've been in therapy for a long time and nothing seems to work. I've come a long way but, I'm still afraid of getting hurt again. What can I do to eventually get over my past. I want a happy relationship too like so many married couples that I see. I'm a good person and I think I have so much to offer. Help! Thanks!

therapist. WE work 50 mi. from home. He knew I do not drive in snow and on ice & convinced me to take the job and promised to drive at those times- about10-15 days in winter. After snow, it stays icy for several days. He was offered a less stressful job somewhere else/ Morale is low where we work. I am an excellent teacher, but jobs in this area are scarce-have been trying consistently for 3 yrs. He is afraid to leave me in our place of work where the morale is low- and the long commute esp. because he promised when i took job that he;d drive in bad weather. i just can't take off all those days- noone from work lives near us- no public transport either. We split driving otherwise.
. I feel guilty- honestly, I am afraid of driving
in bad weather. Would I be awful to just express my thanks and tell
I for appreciate him staying? We love each other very much, but I feel guilty.

My hubby is well unaffectionate person to me. In another words it, he doesn't show it unless I complain about it. We are in our early 20 and our relationship inamate peak is well once a week. He always playing video games, on the omputer and watching tv. He makes plans with his family and friends. Nothing romantic with me. I've tried telling him and he gives this thing that he doesn't know what to do to fix it, he tried everything. Well feb of 2006 he cheated somewhat on me, I caught him before it went further. He tried to hook up with this girl. The affection in his writing, is what I have been trying to get out of him. I distance my self from him and he thinks we are fine. I hurt , I'm lonely , sad . At night I cannot wonder if what he is doing. I try hard to stop thinking what if he is doing this or that. We even have a child together. Great dad, but sucky hubby. How can I fix it if I can ? what to do? Please.......

We have been together for 20 years, but it hasn't been a plesant 20 years. I stayed because we have 3 kids together, the kids are now grown and I think it might be impossible to stay together. He drinks heavily on weekends and I resent him for that, because he usually gets mean, but he won' t get help. I guess I am tired of being alone. I know I should leave but I don't know the first thing to do.,

I have went through custody in 2004 and i lost because I was married and living with someone else, I went back to court and proved my husband was unfit so the courts gave my mother in law temporaly custody till november. I have a small child that I have already had with another man and the judge says thats why I can't have my daughter. Her father is a felon and I have no record and mother and law is on medication for nerves. My fiance called me in tears, saying his son's mom is moving. Now, his son died at three months old and to my knowledge him and her have not been involved in a long while. Jaden (his son) died Sept 05. He told me he made a promise to his son (in a dream) that he would always watch over his mom (ex), and now he feels he is breaking a promise to his dead son, because he can't watch over her. Pls tell me what you think.

Controlling behavior- decides where you will go, who you
are "allowed" to see, is bossy. gives orders and expects them to be
followed, makes all the decisions in the relationship, does not
respect your opinions, wants and needs, tells you how to dress,
accuses you of things you didn't do, everything has to be his/her
way.
if this is you or someone you know please know there is help
