People wear the wedding ring on the left because "it's closest to your heart".

In ancient times it was said that the vein in the left ring finger connected to the heart, which stands for love-I know in Europe they wear their engagement rings on their left hands, and then when they get married, they switch them to their right hands-even men do this-also in Russian and Greek Orthodox religions, they wear their wedding rings on their right hands-and if they have an engagement ring or promise ring then it goes on the left hand

don't know really. I like the closest to the heart answer, but also maybe because most people are right handed and it's easier to do things without a ring on ? kinda like what that wise *** said.

it was said the ring finger on the left hand had a vein that went straight 2 the heart. old wives tale, but hey who knows.

the left hand goes back in history it is said by the greek that the index finger on the left hand has a vein that runs to the heart.I did rs=search on it at one point I was curious about that too

the ring can be consider close to the heart and can also mean that two people who marry become as one in unity. It also symbolize the unity to god as two make their vows to honor and obey.
the ring is unity in god 's eyes as we wear it on the left hand.
