I have noticed that whenever people leave school, either high school or uni, their social life plummets. Friends become strangers as people who once would do anything for each other don't bother to contact each other, and finding new real friends is a difficult task. It's happened to most of my friends, and I've even noticed it's a popular question choice here. It seems upon entering the workforce it's pretty hard to make new friends, or the same type of friendships you had in the past.
How do you keep in contact with your old friends, if you do at all?
Do you care at all, or do you think it's a problem that you don't?
Why do you think this is? Just growing up and changing? The fact we work longer hours this decade? Or because you don't have school forcing you to mix, and you've never really had to work at friendships? Or simply you don't like your friends/they don't like you anymore?

So i fell in love with this girl, and i have never gotten the chance to go out with her or be with her. She has told me that there is no chance we will ever go out, and she has no feelings for me. I need to get over her and move on with my life. We have been close friends for a very long time, and it would suck losing her. But does the friendship go above my feelings and my life?

After seven years of debating ....I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to see age 21. I've tried everything to change and be happy, everything...you name it. I gave up a few days ago. Sort of like an epiphany. I want to be an organ donor, because I've read that one persons organs can save up to eight lives. What do you think about peole who kill themselves? I know the answer is not going to be anything I want to hear...but still.

Let's say a friend of a friend from my softball team thinks i hooked up with this guy, and done some things with him, if you know what i mean. I told her NO but. Then she goes around behind my back and tells people what I’ve done with him. EVEN THOU I NEVER DID IT!!! I don't even have a boyfriend, so anywayyyyssss..... I STARTED A NASTY RUMOR TO GET BACK AT HER AND NOW SHE IS JUST SPREADING MORE!! Even worst things….you can only imagine. Is there any stop to this madness, of a world we live in!?!?!?!

me and my frend hav been frends for a long time and we r finally in junior high but we keep fighting like every day at lunch we get in a huge fight but the worst part is every1 always takes her side because she always bursts out in tears and i cry too but i go to the bathroom to cry i dont no y but i do and it is never my fault now all my frends hate me and my crush is mad at me cuz the other day he saw her crying and heard he side of the story she is a great frend but she is ruining my life by her fake stories and her crying what do i do and how should i do it

The thing is, I have no problem posting this where lots of stragers can see but it is the people i really know that I have a hard ime trusting. It seems like the longer i know someone, the more I am scared to tell them things. Like a girl I have been friends with sice I was 2, I could be goofing around with her and then we would start talking about our lives and i just pull back. I am a nice person and none of my friends have ever betrayed me or anything. I have awsome friends. So why am I so scared to open up to them? Any advise on how to cure that fear?

I am a pretty quiet person and I get along well with most people. I keep to myself most of the time and have few friends. I like it that way. But lots of people tell me about things that are going on in their lives that are really quite personal. They tell me about their problems and things they have done. They tell me they have been unfaithful to their spouses, about who's sleeping with whom, and one person confessed to me they were gay and hasn't told anyone in their family yet. The thing is I don't know these people that well. I don't tell much about myself to them but they reveal a lot to me. I wonder why this is. Thanks

I went to a thing with kids from another school, but I knew that kids. I say a kid from my school and his friends had left him so I went to talk to him and he was funny. A friend asked me to homecoming and I shot him down. He already knows I'm seeing someone who moved and lives in another state but will move back next year...so I dunno if I was being too insensitive or not. The exact conversation was very close, if not exactly like this:

Him:
"Do you want to come to homecoming with me?"
Me:
"Nope" (it was an instant response)
Him:
"Oh, I figured you might say that...Well I only called to ask you that, but I have something else to do right now. I have to go, sorry."

I feel kind of bad...but he should really know better...I mean, I don't even like dances to begin with, plus I'm seeing someone. I wasn't too harsh with my "nope" was I?

wow i am sooo pissed right now, my best friend has jelousy issues. me and my other friend were joking around and making a secret language. and then she get's all pissed at us becuase she thinks we are talking about her? oh ya our world revoves around her. and then she has the nerve to say that we have bin excluding her. when we werent, but it just doesnt seem fair cuzz she can exclude me allllllllll she wants but when it comes to me it's not ok. so it's not ok for me to have other friends? like seriusly, and she says i have trusting issues. in the end she starts to see what she's been doing and she says' oh lets say sorry and forget the whole thing?!? i told her that i'll forgive because i dont want our groupe to deal with it and take sides, but i dont trust you. then she started bitching about how this was a whole waist of time and asked me what this means. i told her we have jelousy issues. she's all like oh we have to deal with this together AND BLAH BLAH BLAH

My best friend is a therapist, and she's also bisexual.

She's taken too much of an interest in my personal life to the point that I find her judgements of the people I'm dating rude and crossing the line.

Its as if there's no one good enough for her. Sometimes I think she's secretly wanting to date me herself.

I just dropped my US celluar phone in a bowl of water. It was completely submerged for about 5 seconds. I took it out and dryed it off, blow dryed the battery on cool setting, blow dryed the entire thing. It came back on and the light is on but now it won't stop vibrating. I feel so nerdy, I know im really not, I know this sounds really self centererd but I am actually really pretty I think. But i am also really smart, I got on the math squad because I got good grades and Now Everyone who got in it are like... Im not gonna do that I don;t want to be a nerd! Ok, well, I have a small and slim body type and some of my friends are like "omg you're so cute/tiny!" or "wow you're small" or "you're so skinny!!!!". It's getting on my nerves. I know, there are worse things than being called small, but it's annoying all the same. Help?

I am a grown woman with 2 teenage children and a wonderful husband of 23 years. I don't have any girlfriends really. I mean I am friendly with the women that I work with. I just don't really have a best girlfriend. My husband is probably my best friend and I have a great relationship with my sister, mom, and an 81 year old neighbor. I have been taking my best friends child to school on and off for about a year and a half. First it was just every so often as a favor, now it's 3 days a week. I don't mind doing favors now and again but this has become an obligation. Her school is about 14 miles round trip each day. My question is how do I get myself out of this without hurting any feelings, she is going through some stuff right now and I'd like to be sensative to that. I will also add that I do several other small favors for her as well and I'd kinda like to put a stop to that too.
