There are certain instances in which I guy can be jealous of a girl. Either:
- He's gay and she is going out with someone she likes.
- He's gay and he likes the same guy that she does.
- One of his best friend is going out with her and he's mad because his best friend doesn't give him any attention.
- He's angry because he lives a miserable life and is jealous that the girl has everything he has ever wanted.

Well there are two reasons that he could possibly do it...
1) He Really likes the girl.. and the only thing he can ever find anything to say is mean but, he means well...
2) He sees something in you he really doesn't like and he knows he doesn't want to be like that so he trys to make you hate him so that eventually you will avoid him and its one less chrisis in his life.

There is a reason he is doing it. You just probably are not aware of it. Especially if you know the guy well and it seems out of character, like he doesnt do this to other "random" girls.

Guys are very catty with each other. They will spread rumors about you going out with other guys when you're not, etc.

unfortunately some ppl just hate someone for no reason.
for example, when i was in middle school, there's this abonoxious guy who spread the bad rumor about me.
i actually didn't even know that he existed till someone told me about the rumor and him.
it was horrible.
i still have no idea why he hated me.
