Well, I guess I'd ask where I can find a good psychiatrist. If the school counselor thinks you need to see a doctor, do it. The doctor will evaluate you and decide if you are just shy or if you are depressed (depression is an illness that can be treated). If you are just shy, the doctor (psychiatrist) will tell your school counselor you are just fine and to back off. Then, your problem is solved. I hope you are just fine. Bless you.

I would accept their recommendation because you are unable to control yourself and follow classroom rules. Perhaps there is a reason you are disruptive in class, and perhaps counseling would help you learn why and change those poor habits, habit that could affect the rest of your life including getting and keeping a decent job.

I don't want to flame anyone here. I am very respectful of all people and their positions in life, but high school guidance councilors are to put it lightly, out of touch & worthless. How can someone who spends literally no time with you, give you advice? If you keep to yourself, there is nothing wrong with that. You will find your voice in time.

they did and I did, I had a lot of problems and left high school.
I could not cope with the different types of abusers.
then went to an adult school and got my GED and went to a vocational school and got an accounting degree.
got a great job. but I had to see a family counselor for awhile really helped I was really messed up.
sometimes we just need help doesn't mean we are crazy.

what???thats crazy! she was out of line with that comment because many children are very quiet in class thats just their personality especially if they are very shy. No psychiatrist is needed. Maybe you should let someone know she is telling kids this.

I would tell my parents what the counselor said and ask them to ask your family doctor to recommend one.
