Friends - September 2007

I was having a few drinks the other night with a really good cousin of mine. We were talking about our relationships. Somewhere in the conversation I found myself talking about the unhappy aspects of my relationship and was like wait a minute...I know or have heard of people that are going through similar situations and I have advised them on what they should do...

Point is, why aren't I following my own advice LOL

It seems so easy for us to give advice, it's like you know what the right thing to do is, but when it comes down to you...I guess you can call it being stubborn? Not wanting to see the truth?

Does anyone else out there feel the same?

Real quick summary. I'm basically starting to think about my future, I need to start putting into action what I want, yet the one thing I feel holds me back, I've tried to talk to with my partner and get no where. I have this strong feeling that I can change him, and that's what I'm waiting to see.

She is naturally really shy and now is becoming a doormat, especially in her family. As a middle child, she doesnt really get a look in, so socially she probably feels a bit worthless. I know what a great person she is, but she doesnt. I want to take her out for a day and cheer her up, any ideas? Aside from that, how else can I help her in the long run?

okay, well i really dont think this is, but im a sensitive person. I wish that i wasnt but. On saturday i tried getting jonas brother tickets for 5 hours, and the line was busy. and then, now i cant even go. then my friend gets a new puppy, that i wanted for 3 years, and in a months asking she gets one. she already has a dog and a bird that she doesnt even care about! then i came home and cried because i feel like she gets everything she wants in the top of a hat. i dont think its fair at all! dont say i am immature. because im more mature then her. and many people know that.

I am crying because a contact of mine has advance Lung cancer and it makes me sad that she is leaving! (((((((((((Gnostic))))))))))))

hi.. my mum is heavy drinker.. she drinks everyday and it has been getting worse latley. the doctors came out and told her that she is at the 'cross roads' of her life and that this is the time where she should stop the drinking or she could die. everyone is worried about her and we have all tried speaking to her but she just ignores all of the help that we offer her. She eats hardly anything so she is very thin and she finds it hard to walk because her liver is very bad, because of the extreme amount of drinking that she does. I just dont know what to do anymore for her. my friends say that it is up to her now to help herself, but im find ing it hard to jst stand back and watch my mum do this to herself. She has said to me that she would rather kill herself than live anymore. My mum is a great person when she is sober but when she is drunk she becomes rly horrible and slags all of my friends and family off. plz help me, i dont know what to do anymore...thanx.

I have an idea for a science fiction storyline.
A race of beings live on a rock that is moving at 50,000 miles an hour and it is tied to a huge ball of fire by an invisible string.
They spend 1/3 of their lives in a coma during which they have wild halucinations, then they suffer from amnesia regarding most or all of these halucinations.
Do you think that this is to far fetched to be believable?

I love haning out with my friend sam. Bur her boyfriend always tags along where ever we go. He asks me and I say, no I just want some alone time with sam this time. But then I talk to sam and she promises to hang with me ... well yesterday they walked up to my house and we walked around, got something to eat, and then went to Sam's house.

Her boyfriend kept touching her, and kissing her, and flirting with her.
I mean, I know that they are dating, and they love each other, but how do I tell them that I hate being around them when they do that?

my best friend, julia shared with me recently that she had sex for the first time over the summer. shes only 13, and i dont think she was ready, even though she said she was.

I've been on disability for some time so I haven't worked for some time. I go do the YMCA every day to exercise in the pool (I do physical therapy and rehab daily) and I go to medical appointments. I haven't really been able to find a church that I feel comfortable yet. In general I always do better in social situations where we are actually DOING something than one where we sit in a circle and I'm supposed to talk at the right time and everything. I always seem to blow it. (don't follow the conversation that well).

some people suggest doing volunteer work, and I"m doing a few things, but it doesn't make much sense to deliver meals on wheels when I am GETTING MEALS ON WHEELS. see what I mean? but it's a very isolating experience. And I guess I'm just going to be very lonely until I can get on my feet better. My wife died, my family is out of state and I have nobody here. I cared for my wife and I really didn't get to know anyone all that time. trying very hard...

okay first my mom recieves my phone bill i went over the texting limit. but its not my fault because this unkwown number kept texting me and i would reply saying stop.. so thats how i went over my limit..okay now some how on the bill it says that i talk on the phone with that number for about 69 minutes. and i didnt she doesnt believe me what do i do.. i need help im in big trouble for no reason

Please, I need serious answers only. I am studying for a job as a relationship coach. The material we are being given in class says that a mans first awareness of a woman is based on how attractive she is. He suggests that a man would not even pursure a friendship with a woman unless he finds her attractive physically! Is that true? Think of all you female friends, did you initially find them attractive and was that the motivation to pursue getting to know them better?

at the homecoming we were suppost help work the snakc bar for 40 minutes . i was 5 minutes late and she got so pissed at me and went to some people and told them all this crap and its the next day and she is still mad

my best friend always goes places with not enough money. and expects me to pay for her
like one time we went to the movies
and she brought $5
a movie is 6.50
then she asked me for a 3.50 slushie
and i always pay for food when we go out cause she has none.
i get $10 a week for lunch at school
and im always out by wednesday cause i have to pay for her cause she throws out her lunch!
she says shes low on money but it sure dosent look like it,
when me and my family are REALLY REALLY low on money.
my mom said our friendship is ending fast cause of this..
and she got mad at me and told me that shes not going to homecoming and is going to pay me the $60 dollars her mom is going to give her for it.
but now im stuck with noone to hangout with at homecoming
what do i do?

I'm a freshman in college and moved into the dorm a month ago. A bunch of us on our floor (in the same hallway) are all friends now at this point, but on the first day everyone was hanging out in one of the rooms getting to know each other. At that point, everyone was nice and cool, just meeting each other. Since then, one of the kids (and the kid next door to my room) has been cool and nice to everyone except me. He walks into the room if I'm talking to his roommate and greets me with "why don't you do me a favor and get out of my room" and he says the exact same thing if I walk in there to see what's going on if there are a lot of people in there (that are my friends). I've tried so hard to be friendly with him and everyone else, and I've never done anything to deserve this. Never have I derided him or spoken derisively. I've put up with this now on 10+ occassions just smiling and leaving the room since it is his after all. Is this verbal abuse and how should I respond from now on?
