Everytime my friend texts me it begins with "Oiii! Kidhaaaa!" even though I have no idea what that means

Its Punjabi for 'how are you' or 'whats up', nothing rude. Its probably catching on among non punjabi speakers. I remember a girl coming up to me at work and saying this, I was well surprised., but it was nice.
