Ignore them. Tell them that it is OK to be smart and they should give it a try someday.

Being smart isn't something to be ashamed of. That doesn't mean you're a nerd. I know how you feel. I also "think" I am really pretty but I am also really smart, like you. And if they tease you, then they're not really you're friends, I was scared too, but when I did what i thought was right, which was join, none of my friends teased me. In fact, the joined also. You see, you're not a nerd, and you're not alone. Being smart is something to be proud of. If they tease you, then they're actually jealous, because they didn't get in, and chose looks over knowledge, something WAY more important than looks. You won't regret it. Your reputation isn't as inportant as knowledge. If your friends don't work out, you'll get new ones. Once you're older, you'll be very glad you joined. BE smart and join. I know you'll take the right choice. Some friends don't last forever you know, knowledge does. This woll be recorded on your personal record, and will look good for college aplication. Another reason to join. You'll thank me later. You care a little too much what others think. I joined another club which i kinda thought was nerdy, but i ended up being VERY happy i did! Because i got to go to Seattle, Washington! and i live on the east coast! I got a very nice experience, and i am now the president of that club. Now i have other knowledge that i wouldn't have had if i hadn't joined. When i started with that club, 6 other people joined before me.... but then my friends saw all the fun, and joined. Trust me, go with the club. You won't be sorry. Good luck!

Stick with it. The other people around you just feel threatened by your brains and how you are probably going to go somewhere in life. Don't follow what the others did by backing out because they think they are going to be nerds, they are being sheep and following what they think will make them cool. If you know your pretty and your confident then it won't matter what your doing with math squad. If they call you nerd you can tell them that it will at least look good on your college applications later and don't be jealous that you have beauty and brains.

my point of view on everything is that every single thing is an experience, is true, math club people are a little geek, and sometimes a lot, but... no wait, i was going to say that you were going to make new friends but thinking it better, geek people are kinda antisocial, not that theyre antisocial, but theyre not like, hey whats up man? but not everybody is like that, but its anyway an experience, think that maybe they make a trip to a contest somewhere out of town? or they give prises or something. it also helps you in college and work, being able to be on math club mean your smart, and colleges will consider it and so does work. i think you shouldnt miss that chance. its true, being in the club will sound a little geek, but it doesnt change anything if your a party person,, it just wont change anything

dont worry about everyone else, do what you want to do. when your 25 and out of school, is it really gonna matter how popular you were. these people are only gonna be in your life until you graduate so dont do everything just to please them. since your smart, math club might even heighten your smarts and you can get better at math in the long run, plus that looks good on a college application.

Just go for the math squad. I know it's easy to say, but in life it's not going to matter what other people think of you, but what you think of yourself. If you're worried about guys thinking you're too geeky, don't. Most of the guys I know think that a girl is ten times hotter if she has the brains to go along with the look.

Good luck

Firstly?

GROW UP

You're going to learn eventually that petty rivalries mean nothing in the real world, just the same as how good looking and being smart mean NOTHING if you lack the intution and personality that can make them work for you.

Being overly self-confident, concieted and arrogant are what you should be fighting to assert, not decisons regarding people who in 5 years you won't give a **** about.

So what? Teasing is for people who are jealous.
The people who tease you probably don't know a thing about math, so who cares! They're teasing you because it's a stupid stereotype, and they're trying to make themselves feel better about their stupidity by making fun of others.

Don't worry about it!
Best of luck on the math squad!
