Family - December 2006

I came from a loving, nuturing, christian home. Yet, I feel the need to please everyone. And, when I feel that I fail at this, I lash out at the ones I love. Why do I act this way? I'm trying to change this way of thinking, but I sure could use some advice, please.

i've been living away from home in a for abt 10 months,im living with my sister, my actual family( mom, dad and my brother) are not here but all the aunties and uncles whom i know nothing abt are here. the thing is i don't want to speand time with them Cuz i just dont know what to talk abt with them since they r much older.so i've avoided a lot of family gatherings.i'd rather spend time with my friends or staying at home than going to my grandma's house. my sister and my mom said i shouldnt do that but i mean, i just dont feel comfortable and actually bored in family time. hanging out with friends is much more fun. am i normal? i didnt think abt it that much until lately, since it's christmas time and i still dont want to go to my grandma's house so my mom called me and asked what's wrong with me?i mean is there really anything wrong with me?

that I can get as a group gift? There are about 17 of them and I just can't afford to buy for every individual. I thought about a game or something like that but they have games, so I'm trying to think of something unique! Thanks for the ideas!

We have just moved home to live close to my husbands family and I have no clue as to what my daughter can give her aunts & uncles for christmas & not spend a lot of money! Including my daughter we have 7 kids to buy for now. There are 7 Aunts & Uncles? HELP! I am not creative at all......so I am completely lost on this. Any ideas would be a GREAT help! Thanks!

I hate people who ask these questions, i always think " they're your bloody family!" but i honestly have no idea what to get my dad. Hes sixty and has no hobbies! Image a prettier version of ricky tomlinson! what can i get him? I have this problem every year!

For 21 years my dad and I never got along because we were so much alike and so on.

Months before my 22nd birthday, I realized the problems I have and got treated for it. I respect him now and treat him nicely and respectful. He likes that.

Well for the first time in my life, he actually called me and left me a message on my cell phone to wish me a happy birthday and gave me a hundred bucks.

You know something else that's funny? Nobody else knew he called me.

What would this mean? Is it because I respect him more and understand why he acts the way he does or something?

I know it is late in the year but my husband and I just had to put our ten year old rottweiller to sleep after two days in the hospital. We spent pretty much all we had save up plus some. I know that sounds horrible but I am being honest at least. We love that dog and so did my 7 year old boy and we tried everything we could to save her. Now I am facing having almost nothing for the holidays.
PLEASE- no rude remarks- it is difficult enough to ask for this type of help. I just don't know much about this type of help and I have never had to ask for it and wished that I didn't have to ask for help
now. But more than anything in this world - I want for my son to have a decent Christmas. He deserves it!

last night my dad had a business meeting at 6:00pm. he was going out to dinner with his boss. my mom is really sick with the flu and needs a lot of help. we thought my dad would be back in 2-3 hours. once it was 9:00 we started to get worried something had happened because he wasnt back yet and he hadnt called to let us know what was taking so long or where he was. we called him a lot, and now my brother and i were getting scared something happened to him. we didnt hear from him until 12:00am. when he called he was mad at my mom for calling him so much! i think this is really rude of him that he was gone for 6 hours and didnt even to call to see how my mom was doing, or to let us know he would be out later than we thought. he says he never gave her a time and he told her he was going to a meeting therefore, he didnt do anything wrong. whats your oppinion on all this?

And the kid messed its diaper over 3 hours ago should I throw the walking toilet in the garbage can?
This kid is not mine..... but are the house guests kid that my wife invited......And have left me with the thing to sit for 30 min but it has been over 4 hours And I don't change diapers......And the kid is stinking up the place .

My mother in law likes to come in and have a look in all my cupboards and the fridge. She is always borrowing money off my boyfriend and has even had loans out in his name that he is now paying for!

I just moved out to L.A. a month ago from the Metro Detroit area, and am looking for jobs to support myself and my new lifestyle. My mom really wants me to come home for Christmas, and has even offered to pay for a plane ticket home. Only thing is that I'd have to be home for 9 days, and I don't know what kind of job or other LA opportunities I might miss out on during that time. What do you think? I'm from Australia, my husbands father recently passed away, there was no contact between either of them but apparently there was a death notice about 3 weeks ago stating they are looking for next of kin the notice was from the nursing hospital he was at How do we find out which nursing home he was in? His dad didn't want to know his family but had LOTS of money is there a way that we can serch online?

I have been married for fifteen years and my relationship with my mother-in-law has gone from bad to worse. My husband makes excuses for her bad behavior. He is constantly telling me to be the bigger person. It has gotten to the point that he and my son go there for the holidays without me. I can't be around her for the sheer purpose of self-preservation at this point because my feelings have been hurt so many times now. She calls him at work now instead of at home and I can always tell because he comes home with a chip on his shoulder. If I say anything in defense of myself he tells me I am being a small person but yet he will come to her defense. Our son is adopted and she shows favortism to the other grandchildren also. She gets them more at Christmas and takes them on annual vacations without extending an invitation to my son. When I have tried to talk to my husband about it he just blows. He has never confronted her, even when he has caught her in lies. I need advice...

Bearing in mind I'm at work....

He did two things to really annoy me last night and both have actually changed my opinion of him despite being with him for 6 years and living together! When I tried to talk to him about it he ignored me like a child refusing to say anything other than F*ck off. I just feel so wound up, possibly because I didn't get any sleep either because I was so angry.

You see, i have a girlfriend who has problems with hr mom.. my gf feels that her mom doesn't love her.. she cites to me some instances where she feels that way. For example.. her mom always questions her if she if using drugs or drink or have sex and a lot of bad things. Well, my gf has beend with her mother just 3 years ago.. her mom isn't around during her elementary years.. Can you give me some things i can say to her to make her know wat to do or just make her feel better...

My brother go married earlier this year and then went off to boot camp. she being pregnant and a new member of the family was invited to live in our house while he is away. it was just my parents and i cause my other siblings have since left. we are in are early twentys and cant seem to get along all the time. is this a sibling rivalry or something else any help is appreciated.
