My mother in law likes to come in and have a look in all my cupboards and the fridge. She is always borrowing money off my boyfriend and has even had loans out in his name that he is now paying for!

Do mothers feel like they can take liberties just because they gave birth and raised us?

Im glad that Im not the only one whos got this so-called freaky problem. My fiance's step mom,she is one incredible woman in an annoying way! We stayed over at his parents' house last time and I got really ill. High fever and chills. His dad had to lend me his jumper coz his step mom refused to lend me hers. I mean even if Im not sick, she sees me like Im a disease or sumthing!

Anyway so I got better two days later, I offered to wash the jumper. So I did. His dad was so happy about it. She softly grabbed the jumper (after being washed and tumble dried) from my hand and mumbled,"well,I dont think its clean enough" - she dumped it back into the washing machine!

She often complains to my fiance that I dont socialize or talk enough. Im no fun and that she cant really connect with me. The thing is I cant be bothered talking to her. Shes a plain pain!
When I talk, she looks the other way. when I try to help her do something whenever we stay over, she always says no.

I try to be frank with my fiance at all times about this, luckily,
hes very helpful and understanding. Hes cooperative as well.
My best defence is to nod and smile. Stay polite but distant.

She always has this fake smile whenever people are around.
God bless her soul.

What does she do? Other than EVERYTHING? :P When she calls (once or twice a day), she's constantly trying to tell me how to raise my children. First of all, I have two children... she only had one and it was 26 years ago. Times they have a-changed lady! She bought my son a LeapFrog Tad doll that sings and counts for Christmas last year. He used to keep it in my car to play with while we were out. She told my husband that we needed to bring the toy inside so my son would learn to count. What? I'm pretty sure I can count past ten and I didn't have one of those things. It's annoying, but most of the time, I just have to laugh at her.

I don't see my mother in law very often but last time she stayed she tried to psyche me out by pretending she couldn't hear anything I said. I do speak softly but I did try to speak up, and anyway everyone else can hear me - usually! In the end I was saying things to her through a third person all time time. Funny though, I've spoken to her a couple of times on the phone since and she's been able to hear me. Oh well, you reap what you sow.

Mine lives with us as she is no longer capable of caring for herself, so my list could be as long as the milky way, but I let love cover her multitude of problems.

The main problem I have with her is the fact that she is a sociopath. She cares little to nothing for anyone other than herself. An example: She recently went with an older couple to another city, all of them visiting their sons. On her return she spent over an hour regaling us with travel stories, sparing no detail of every bump in the road. Then I finally asked "well, how is your son?". She said "He's okay I guess." So I pressed on "what did he have to say?" and she says "not much, we talked for 3 hours." But she was unable to tell us if he was sick, if he needed anything, if he was happy, etc. She simply didn't remember because it wasn't about HER.

I hate my mother inlaw and I hate her for the following reasons. She is too faced, she is critical of my parenting, she constantly talks about her other son and compares us to him, she constantly puts down her son who is marrie dto me, she is a very hard nosed nasty controling ***** and I cant stand her. On the rare times she has had christmas here she asked me for everything instead of getting it herself "Could I have a small cup of water" Oh there is not butter may we ... and it made us very uncomfortable. When we wnt to visit her we made it clear she did not have to put herself out we just needed a place to sleep and guess what she put herself all out and complained about it and I was livid because I was so uncomfortable. I dont understand why they behave like they do, and if they only realised that their behaviour actually causes the sister inlaw to ignore them at christmas, not phone them, not keep them updated on the children, not respond to them and generally put 1200 kilometres distance between us then thye may think twice about being a nasty back stabbing judgemental criticising person. Good luck

My Mother in Law is a very unusual woman...she's 84 and still works full time. She looks and acts more like she's in her 60's. My wife is disabled and sometimes my MIL will push my wife into doing something and then doesn't understand when my wife is sick for 2or 3 days afterwards. That drives me crazy about her.

Min is a catholic (nothing against them) and she acts like she is so great because she goes to church all the time visits shrines and has all these pics and statues of a person supposed to be Jesus in her house (did not know jesus was blonde blue eyes but hey) but then she acts totally like a ***** and lies. She is also always saying so prays for our conversion to her faith.

Sorry to hear this about you mother in law. My mother in law when she was alive was great, she never butted in, was always there if I needed her, treated me like I was one of her own, She was just an exceptional person and I am glad I got to know her and I will never forget her ..
