Your Mom misses you. You are not working and the job situation is not likely to change in 9 days. Very few companies hire during the Christmas holidays. Go home, enjoy the holiday with the people who love you. When you go back to LA the new year will have started and the job situation will have improved. You will be refreshed and ready to work hard. This will show and you will get a really good job. Have a great time and give your Mom the world's biggest hug cause she deserves it. ( all Mom's do)

Well I'm gonna get sappy/sentimental now tis the season though: I'm 42 years old and have lived in several states in the US, and have been away from home since I was 19 years old, and always went home at Christmas ( broke, with money, or struggling to make it when I got back home), that was the one place that people loved me (family),and I could relax and re-group, and soul search (make hard decisions about my life, where I was going what I was doing etc.) My dad alwayse gave me great advice (straight/Hard ) I should have listened more, My father passed away 10 years ago, my niece I raised 7 years ago, and my mom 4 years ago so I can't go home now the heart of the place is gone.
So if there is one thing that I hope you hear from what I am saying is: Its OK to leave home for what ever reason but go home as often as you can to find yourself, because there will come a day that there is no home to go home to and you will hold onto those precious memories to get you through the hard lonely holidays that you face ahead of you .

Christmas is about love and family, you should get home, it's just for 9 days, your not going to miss out on anything in L.A. It's not going to be the end of the world.
I am going to have Christmas with my family and I think it's going to be special, because this year has been very hard and me and my family had to overcome a lot, but now, we are ready to get Christmas and a good NEW year, for NEW chances.
So just go home and after that, when you get back to L.A. you will have 365 days, to get a job!
Good luck.

I definately think you should go home for Christmas. You're family wants you. Be happy for that. And you never know, you might actually enjoy yourself. You can't think like you'll be missing 9 days. Your job will find you even if you are on vacation; what's meant to be is meant to be. Plus, how many times will you be able to be with your parents like this? Nothing is forever, and I treasure every moment with my parents... cuz they aren't here forever. I don't know, but I would.

go home. you are probably young and this thought hasn't occured to you yet but there will be a christmas in the future when you won't have the option to go to your mom. Not much is going to be happening in the job's market over christmas so I doubt you'll miss anything that exciting. And it would make you and your mom extremely happy.
It's christmas for goodness sake, go home.
