My mother took me shopping after school 3 days ago, and I thought it was just for fun. She ended up spending $160 on me, plus going out to dinner, and I was thinking, what a nice thing to do since my dad refuses to spend any money on much-needed winter clothing. But afterwards, over the phone, she tells me that was supposed to me my birthday gift (my birthday is in about 5 days) She usually gives me $100 as a B-Day gift, and I wish she had told me beforehand, because I would have rather spent the money on things other than clothing. Do you think this was fair of her?

basically...im 16 and in a few months i have to chose with a-levels i will take. i know that i want to go into a design based job like product design and to do this i want to take DT, Bio and Chem. But my parents have desided that i have to take Physics, Maths and Advanced maths, im bright a probally could scrap a pass in those subjects but all they want is for be to be a enginereer they even have the course in suppost to do at uni desided. My problem is mainly though that if i dont do what they want me to do my dad has said that he will 'hand me the razor to slit my own wrists' (we dont exactly have a loving relationship) and i will by taken out of my school that i love and kicked out of home. i find this stupid as both my parents are in the design industry and yet they wont even consider me doing it. ive applyed to a state school that they dont know about. but i need to know if you think that it is worth doing a career that i no i will hate and fail in or having a family however ****

that it is stupid of me to get emotional about my dad? I live with my mum and i go to my dads for the weekend every 2 weeks but when I think about other people and their dads I feel sad because I have never been close to him because he has never been intersted in my life. Shall I just grow up or is it normal to "greive" something you have never had? Im 15!

My sister-in-law has a daughter, from a relationship. He has to pay her child support and it is court ordered. The father of her child, was in a serious car wreck, but he's ok and she's thankful for that. He owes her at least 13,000 dollars in child support, because he got behind on his payments. She asked me to post this question, she recently found out, that her daughter's father, is supposed to get a 50,000 dollar settlement, from the car wreck and she wanted to know, if her daughters father, would have to give their child, any of that money, being that he's behind on payments, does he have to report the settlement, to the Child Support Enforcement Agency? Thanks.

I don't like Christmas shopping. I especially don't like Christmas shopping now with all the crowds. My husband and I both come from large families. We've pulled names for the siblings, but we haven't done that the nieces and nephews. My siblings have in-laws with a smaller amount of nieces and nephews. My husband's siblings have all picked names for whose kids they're buying. So, we're stuck. I just can't buy for mine and not for his. I don't know what to do! Help!

Im an only child..im nearly 20...they begged me stay after high school and stay with them and go to college near by(sometimes i regret it, at times i dont). Anyway, my boyfriend and i are in a long distance relationship...we love each other a lot, but we definitely have our rough spots and disagreements. Anyway, I'll pick a fight...lmaooo..Ima baby..and he'll get mad and then I'll cry. I guess my mom hears me, I understand her concern. But should she really be knocking on my door trying to pass judgements/comments and trying to force her to tell her what he and I are arguing about? I know her and my father have had problems and if my grandparents kne everything about my father(which is no way comparable to the arguments my boyfriend and i have)...he wouldnt agree that she should be with him. Is it wrong for her to try to meddle a little bit? I dont cry for her to hear, I try to keep my voice low and I try not to get too loud.

My friends son is playing up something chronic at school, home and out of school club. He lost contact with his dad last xmas and he has been rebelling ever since. Thing is, I think its unfair of my friend to prevent him seeing his dad. She doesnt want the guy in her life, so that means her son is suffering. She doesnt seem to realise that he may turn against her when he's older and if he's still acting up nearly a year on, there is no way the wee guy is going to move on and do well in school. His dad is a bit of a loser, but thats not the point. Its up to his son to get to know his dad and make his mind up as he grows up. His dad was in his life up till last xmas. I have no kids, so feel that my friend will tell me to get lost if I have a gentle word with her. Just dont want her son feeling like this. What do you think I should do?

Every year I dread the holidays from Thanksgiving through New Year. I guess it has to do with being an spoiled only child and then my parents got a divorce so then Christmas meant airplane rides.
Now, I am 35 with 3 kids. My son who is 17 understands what I mean, been divorced from his dad since my son was 2. My husband of the past 12 yrs and father of my 2 girls ages 9 and 10, has a a big wonderful family who all get together and embrace the holiday spirit. I NEVER want to be a part of the get togehers but hubby makes me go and it never fails that I get angry and end up hating all of them. My son feels the same way. One of the bigger cousins picks on the girls and I get MAD and they tell the mom who does nothing to her kids. My nephew smarts off to me and I get sooo mad I leave with the kids. Then hubby gets mad at me.?
He says that I am wrong. I have explained to my mother in law but she says its all family and we all have to get along. Shouldn't me and my kids be more important?

Due to poor attitude and behavior on the way home from Thanksgiving, we told our 18 year old Senior she could not go out with her friends when we arrived home at 11 PM. She got out of the van, got in her car and left anyway. She came back at 2 AM, 1 hour after curfew. What would be the best consequences to give her? She goes to college in another town in the afternoons so she will need to have her car to get there.

As for another factor that you idiots posted on my threads last night this will really shut you up and I am posting under the category of the family section just to really show you that I wasn't lying as I stated last night before I get a weird response asking why did I post this message here, well read this jackasses, this is the next educated test I took and here were the core results for the selected area of employment that the the database recommended for me in the results, which funnily enough was egineering which start on 35k a year and can earn up to 55..

Matthew, based on your responses, your top career area is Engineering

Careers in this field often demand that you be exceptionally creative, and think "outside of the box." Enjoying an engineering career means having an insatiable curiosity for figuring out how things work. Having an interest in developing your math and spatial skills helps too. Most likely, you're interested in not just taking things apart but putting them back together again.

Following a response to a thread last night about some of the jobs that I was making a conversation about in previous question threads I submitted I now have some evidence that proves about some of the jobs references I was making a reference to on the site where I took several tests and these were the educated.

Are an effective self-motivator
Successfully integrate large pieces of information
Can successfully evaluate problems and provide expert opinions *so much so for me not being an effective communicator, phd tests have just solidified the answers I knew directly*...
Can keep calm in times of crisis
Can adapt to new situations quickly
Can create and design ideas, models, products, etc
Are good at analyzing logical flaws in conceptual designs

That was a test that I took based on the measures of how they set questions and those were the detering results which basically have the pedigree of the tests, also there is alot more to read than this

I've been seeing a guy for over two years. We have great chemistry and like to do the same things. Both of us are single and retired with adequate incomes. The problem is that he won't interact with my family. I have a new granddaughter who means the world to me, along with my two daughters and my son-in-law. Thanksgiving has come and gone with no word from him. I don't want to get married again, but this relationship is lacking a very vital element. I'm over 60 and not concerned about being with someone as I am content most of the time being alone. I WILL tell him how I feel but I don't know if I want to continue to see him. What I want is a more rounded, family oriented relationship and I'm not getting this from him. Thanks in advance for you advice.
