Mines is acting like I can't think for myself. If I'm involved with something and she asks what it is and I tell her, she'll offer to help and then end up taking over. She's done it since I was a kid and I'm 20 now. CUT THE CORD, FOR GOD SAKE!!!! That's the reason why I don't tell her certain things. Stilll love her, though. What about you?

24-year-old husband just accepted a government job in Washington D.C. 22-year-old wife is pregnant and plans to be a stay-at-home mom. Where would be a better place to live and why? Washington DC or Maryland. The job is actually in Roslyn. Is Virginia the obvious answer because the job is in VA? If you work in VA and live in MD, do you have to pay taxes on income in both?

Please help!

My mom is having a tough time trying to decide what to do for my dad's 60th birthday party. Either a stay at home dinner and have it catered and invite close family and friends, or go out to a very nice restaurant that he really likes with immediate family only, or even rent out a country club and have a buffet type dinner and maybe have a "roast" of my dad. What does everyone think? He is a real-estate lawyer who is very involved in church and Habitat for Humanity and is always willing to help out others (one of those rare lawyers who is willing to do free work if he thinks it is for a good cause). We are hoping to fly his mom down for the occasion from Missouri (his dad died a few years ago) and i'm hoping that we can also get some of his law school buddies to come down as well. Any ideas would be great...please keep this clean as my dad is a great guy. Thanks!

when i was eight years old i was mollested by a man that is tied into my family on my biological father's side. i only see my father once a year (christmas) and so i never have relations with the man who did this to me but there was recently a death in my family and the services are tonight and tomorrow and that man will be there. i haven't seen him since that night and to be completely honest i'm terrified to go tonight. i know he won't try anything because my family knows that he did it the first time, but i had hoped i would never have to see him again. how do i handle this? i've torn myself to peices worrying about it.

My wife is spending thousands of dollars on re-doing our toddlers room and getting new stuff for the new baby.. Cuz she’s pregnant. I think she should spend the money on beer for me. Which do u think is more important? I think my beer and she says that its her money anyways so she can spend it on whatever she wants too, cuz I don’t work… but she’s a plastic surgeon so why should I work.. She makes a lot of money. shes at like 5,ooo dollars right now. thats a lot of beer i could have. What do u think should happen here?

My daughter father and I have decided to go our seperate ways after 12 yrs.The thing is when our 10 yr old call the new gf's house she sits the phone down and don't tell him.I'll call back and she will say he asleep. When I can here him playing with her 3 boys in the backround. When I told him about this the 1st time he said he could'nt see her doing this.I told him me 12 yrs and her 2 mths why would I lie.She continues to do it so now I tell our 10 yr old we can't call daddy's gf house anymore.I told him if you want to talk to her go to our old house and call her. It's hard 4 me 2 get a handle on the situation because I moved out of town back 2 DC,and he's in Va.Beach.Any suggestions.I'm 30 and her dad is 31 and his new gf is like 35 so you would think she knows better. My daughter should be #1 at this point. If I'm wrong let me know. But I'm just tired of seeing her hurt especially when she knows her dad plays with the new gf 3 boys! Please help!!!!!!!!

I suspect from things I've heard that when my 14-year-old daughter is with my aunt, she has her bathe with her 5-year-old son. Is this ok if my daughter hasn't complained about it to me? I don't want to ask her directly because she might be embarrassed or feel she's complicit in doing something wrong.

I have a family member who is hypercritical of my every step (I don't cook right, clean right, my job sucks, I spend too much money on clothes, I'm selfish, I drive badly, I'm noisy, what became of me, I'm no good.,)

I spend time with this person only because this person is older (not feeble) & I feel guilty.

I recently (after being prescribed antidepressants/anti anxiety & advice of my MD) started only writing brief letters to this person. No private contact, only in stores, lunch etc in public. No phones, etc.

It feels SOOOOOOO much better & I just noticed this past week my migraines have disappeared!
Also my MD says my anxiety is much better & he will taper down the dose.

So, I think I've answered my own question, but, does this mean I've made the right decision to not see this person?

It's kind of weird, when I (due to family obligation) have to spend time in this person's house, I just leave little notes around, no speaking. It seems to work. Is this wrong
