Family - September 2006

Looking at the present situation, when the children are in the threshold of a new career or a new married life, they leave the aged parents to die alone. It is the parents, who nurture these children and teach them the ABC of life and the children in turn chuck the parents out of the house when it is their turn to nurture them. Have our relationships become so meaningless or in this race against time, do we have really forgotten to care for our most precious treasures?

He is always talking down to her, and never giving her praise. This has gone on now for while, and my daughter has gotten to a point that she has lost respect for him. She is 12 and they are always locking horns, with me in the middle...Any advice?

Her uncle passed away, from what I understood they were not close anyways but she is very dramatic and of course crying on the phone..and her son got hurt as well at school playing. I understand that everything happening at once became overwhelming for her. She asked him for help to take his son for the week-end, not a problem, we changed our already made plans. Then asked for Mon and Tue as well, as the funeral is Tues. She's not taking him to the funeral but she does not think he should go to school. Usually I offer to take him myself as his father does work full time, but latley his son doesn't like me much as I don't tolerate him being bold or disrespectful. She asked the father if there were other family members that could watch him for the two days but everyone else is busy, but not once mentioned me.I didn't volunteer, but I wouldn't deny. She phoned back crying and said forget it if you don't want your son I found a friend who will take him, forget the weekend, hung up.

my brother has a child and never see's him, he says he loves him, but still he wont make contact, how can i make him see that he will be the one to suffer when he gets older, i have regular contact with my nephew

i use to be the only girl in the family...... now we are 6 and i'm the oldest and 3 brothers and 2 other sisters..... i use to be the little princess..... now it seems to them i'm nothing.... my 5th sister gets so much attention that she becomes a spoiled brat. i'm always the blame and my parents wouldnt believe a thing i say. they always say "because you are older than her" well i'm only 12 i should get some respect too!!! i always feel left out or jealous now they dont me bring out anymore...... i usually stay at home alone my 3 other brothers agree also that our sister is getting spoiled enough! we really feel left out. they dont go watch me do some activities at school cuz they are busy with my 5th sister and 6th sister. i think they dont love as much as they love my other sisters...... what can i do?? i dont understand why they get more attention!!!

He is a very generous little fella who is forever giving my two boys any old clothes or toys he has grown out of. I want to come up with something really special. His little sister is accustomed to recieving gifts on his birthday too from her parents, otherwise she has a week long tantrum. He deserves a super special gift, but what?

okay her goes. My girl of 9 years has intentionally witheld info from me. she told me the kids were not doing school this year but last night I found out that they were being tested for kindergarden. I say that was the same as lying. To be more specific our daughters are starting school we both agreed that we don't want them in school around here because its too rough. so they go to her moms NEW house. I don't know where her moms place is so I got mad because not knowing hurts.
(one day i might wanna peek in on the kids, or pick em up from school or something) her ma doesn't want me 2 know where she lives because I am not to fond of her.

remember every action has a reaction...........

I can't leave my b/f, I love him and can't stand without him. I lost my virginity for him because I love him. I have been with my bf for about 2 and a half years,he never hit me but he did touch me while quarrelling or while teasing me. He is one of those guys that wants things to be done the way he says or else I am grounded

For ex., if I don't want to make sex because I'm afraid to have unprotected sex during my ovulation, he won't make any sex for about a month or so rather than use a condom or else he will make sex after ovulation is over but he ejaculates inside as to punish me for not letting him before (that's what he told me) and such other things.
He doesn't like to let me go out with friends, in fact I never did go out with any friends except with him. I have spoken to him about taking the pill or making the ring but he definitely doesn't want me to take either
He promised me he won't do it again but he promised me this more than one but it was invain. What should I do?

family? I only see my mother three hours a day, sometimes 1 hour from my father, I never got the "talk" before, I'm constantly critized and yelled at, my father smokes in the house, and constantly twirls his .. in front of me when he's in his bed and I'm doing my work on the computer.

My nephew/godchild just turned 13 years old this year. His parents have not celebrated his birthday since he was a little boy (i.e., age 5). I cannot understand the reason for this, and when I have tried to discuss the importance of this with my brother, he becomes irrate and tells me, basically, to MYOB! I do know that this hurts my nephew because he has told me each year, until this year, when he just said, "I don't care." I am disabled and living below poverty level, but last year, I planned a surprise birthday party for my nephew. At the last minute, my brother intervened, changed all of my plans, and had the party himself. He invited all of his friends and their kids. The party I planned for months was not good enough, according to him-he could buy more/better food, drinks, he had a big house (mine was going to be outdoors because I live in an apt. complex. My brother and his wife are very well off so this is not the reason. What effect do you think this has on my nephew? Thanks!

I was inspired by The Father Christmas Letters by JRR Tolkien, in which he wrote to his children as Father Christmas. I think in this modern world, Father Christmas should have a website and be in step with modern tech. Therefore I want to create a site for him, with features like a banner that changes every few seconds, showing which toy is being worked on by elves; giving daily updates on life at the north pole, and for kids to send letters to Santa. I'll keep my answers posted on the site, won't collect any personal details, and won't be too specific - I don't want to clash with all the answers parents give their kids. My question is, do you think it will bring any Christmas magic to kids, and do you think parents will be angry at me, fearful I am evil or something? I love Christmas and the magic of Father Christmas and stuff, but I'm 24 and I'm too old. I want to get involved this year, and I do web stuff... So I thought maybe a santa site. What do you think?
