When my mom and i are seen together in public, i feel self-concious and very embarrased. I am not a mean person! i just have some...psycological controlling to figure out.

for example, she picked me up at school today (i'm a freshman in high school) and looked very...dorky in a bright neon green coat. I unconciously cringed. she also speaks very loudly and is quite overweight.

i know it's bad to be ashamed of a parent, but i can't help it! is there anything i can do to stop being so ashamed of her?

I'm a sophmore in high school and my mom's a vice principal at her school, so this will be our time alone together tonight without my sister or anyone else. I was thinking dinner and possibly a movie, but not many movies look good and I want to do something original and fun. Any ideas?

I am 16 years old. My father is from India but my mother is American.I am American but my father trys to raise me like I am in India. He doesn't let me date, summer, he follows me places, he searches my room, doesn't let me talk on the phone, goes to my school and sees who I am talking to and so much more. It is so tough for me because I have to lie about everything to be a normal teenager I would like to go out on the weekends and stuff but I can't and he wont listen to what I have to say. He even brought me this guys picture from India who he wants me to marry! My mother doesn't say anything about it because she is kinda scared to speak up for herself. I have been secretly seeing this guy for two years. I don't know what i should do sometimes. I have been secretly going out with this guy for 2 years. I hate not having a dad who I can talk to stuff about. He has said that if I talk to boys he will homeschool me or take to India. What shoulld I do?

I live in Wisconsin and my family live in California. Because my 16 years old brother was causing trouble at school, my parent sent him here hoping he will change if he associate with different people. He have been living us for almost 10 months. He have caused trouble after trouble at school and at home. After he was caught drinking with his friends, I decide to call it off. I want to send him home. He doesn't want to go. I told him that if he doesn't want to go, he need to listen to me and he should change. He said there are some things he could, but some he can't, and he will think about it. My dad said he's not allow to have a gf yet until he's 18. He wants a girlfriend and probably plan to sleep with her. So,he decide he can't change that part, so he will go back home.My mom beg me to give him a chance and will make an exception that he could have a gf, as long as he doesn't sleep with her because if he goes back, there will be even more headaches.

I recently found out, through guilty confession, that my sister and my ex-husband had a sexual relationship during our marriage of 22 yrs. They were having sex while I was home caring for my boys and being a wonderful wife. Do you think that the pain/betrayal/anger in my heart will ever leave so that I will find peace again?

I need to get out of the house with my husband and our one year old son . It is a cold day, so going to a park is really not a good plan. Do you have any ideas for things we could go and do together that would be fun? It wouldn't necessarily have to be something my son could do, just baby friendly at least. Please help, we are becoming boring people. ha ha.

I am hoping to go on a holiday with my family in March. We have never been any place tropical or even outside of Canada and US for that matter, and I am looking for opinions on great places to go for two weeks. I have two boys, ages 11 and 14. They will be 12 and 15 by the time we go. Money is limited. We are pretty active, my youngest love water, my oldest loves everything outdoors and physical. Neither my husband or I drink, so bars and clubs not important. Any good ideas?

No one knows you on here so you can be open and honest. So people just have some kids that are better than others. I understand you love them all, but do you like one better or is there one you feel your family would have been better off if you had not had that night of passion that created that child.

I am 35 years old. My parents and immediate family think I should still do everything they tell me to do. They think they know best for my life. They get really upset when I go against their opinions. But they think I am nothing but a complete failure and have done nothing but "screwed" up my life. They think I have done nothing but made one mistake after another. Granted, I will admit I have made some stupid mistakes and I have not made the best decisions my entire life but I am trying to do much better. I can back this up and prove it. They do not give me credit for anything and see nothing positive in my life. All they see and tell me is the negative and mistakes. How do you handle family members like this? What do you say when they are upset cause you don't follow their "orders?" Please Help! I am sick and tired of this. It has been this way my entire life!! Keep in mind, my 32 year old sister is nothing but "perfect" and the best, a shining example in their eyes.
