Choose somebody who will be mature and financially responsible to take care of your kids if anything happens to you. Make sure that you trust this person with your kids. You could choose somebody that you're really close to such as a best friend or a relative like your siblings or cousin. It's all up to you. Good luck.

Most people choose good friends but you have to realise that friends find their own lives.
I can't even remember meeting my god parents. I'm god parents to three kids. One is now 21 but I haven't seen her for about 10 years, another is 14 and I saw her last Christmas for the first time in four years and the other one they live about 500 miles away and I haven't seen for 6 years.
If you really want to have a god parent that will be around forever, pick a relative like a sister or a brother.

The people you think will best see her through her spiritual journey. That's what godparents are supposed to do.

I choose family because they will always be part of the childs life. Friends come and go a lot of times.

If you are talking about who would raise your children if something were to happen to you - it should be a friend or relative that is closest to your values and beliefs and who is both physically and financially able to care for your child. If you are talking about a largely ceremonial title - it usually goes to your ( or your husband's) best friend.

You are supposed to choose someone who you are willing to allow to raise your child, so you pick whoever is the most grounded, mature, self sufficient, best person you know.
