Family - August 2006

This is not the first time, she has had spurts of the same complaints. She cries to go to bed by herself and when she finally goes to sleep, she is in bed with her dad and I before the night is through. She says she doesn't know why she can't sleep, she just needs me next to her so that she can feel me next to her. Her (biological) dad came into her life about a year and a half ago (after disappearing for 6 years) and this is her 3rd or 4th spurt since then, she never had a problem going to sleep before. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to comfort my daughter. I am running out of answers and lacking sleep just isn't helping at all.

my father was a cancer patient.mother is with me.her in-laws teased her very much,they didn't give her money even for my food(when i was 10 month old,she left that house.my father didn't tell my mother that he was a cancer patient.when my mother came to her father(my grandpa or nana)'s house,he wanted her to do everything like a servant.cook food,wash cloth and what not.then my mother married a man double her age.he has a son who is not financially gud.his first wife used to call my mom and say abuse words to her.i always knew everything but hide from them that i know the reality.my mom recently told me everything that i know it from the beginnig.my step father used to beat me and if i didn't obey his orders he uses not-so-gud words for me.he is now earning not-so-gud money.i wonder what will happen with me if he is ill or something.coz no one is there to help me and my mother.every one thinks v r servants.what will happen to me??
dont use abuse languge.i respect them alot.i m crying!

I am supporting her every way possible,( including financially and i have just been made redundant from work ) She wont listen to any of the advice her family gives her, She does everything she wants regarding her boyfriend and does not seem to mind the pain she causes to me or her dad and family, Because she is pregnant i dont want to upset her, We all know the pain she is going to go through with this boy but she just wont have it, Has anyone any advice?

WHy is it just cause I drive a practical vehicle( mini van ) I get labeled soccer mom. I'm so sick of that crap I could vomit!
NO MY KIDS DONT PLAY SOCCER, they arent old enough so just get the heck out of my way when I'm trying to get somewhere. thanks, now back to your regular schedule programming.

She likes rough sports alot and she is used to hanging around with both genders. When asked what she is going to do as a women(she entered that stage),l she told me act like she does now. Should i give up on her and jusy conclude that she is a lost cause for a little while or try to turn her into a lady.

Our son is a Marine and he is in his last month of deployment in Iraq. He has been through a lot and has even been awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in an attack. He is homesick and I want to do all I can to boost his moral. His name is Jason and it's his first tour over there. I have been sending him the messages that people have posted for him and he is in awe at the wonderful things everyone has said. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to do this for him. We appreciate it so much!

my sister got her first cell phone in the beginning of 8th grade. and she got her laptop in the middle of 8th grade. now it is my turn to get my cell phone since im in 8th grade, but my mom said im getting it in 10th, then i asked for a laptop, and she said ill get that in 11th grade, my sister already broke and/or lost all her 6 phones in 1 year, and my mom is going to buy her another one, and she going to rub it in my face that im going to get it in 10th grade. my mom always treats me like im invisible. my dream was to be an actress, or a model, but no one cares! my sister always gets whatever she wants and then persuades my mom so i dont get what i want. she always makes fun of me and she always says that shes better than me in every way and that im always wrong. and if i say anything to her my mom will kill me! and my mom thinks shes a hard working girl when she has the worst grades like D's and F's and i get A's and B's and shes been lying to my mom that she had a BF for 5 months!

I want to give my mom a 50th birthday party.

Here are the problems:

She has only 5 friends where we live.

She has no boyfriend and I am her only child, so her only family here is me and my wife.

There wouldn’t be anyone at the party but me, my wife and a few of her friends.

Our family (my mom’s mother, nieces and siblings) lives two hours away and if we had a party here they would not come since they are “too busy” or “too old” to travel.

If we had a party at our family’s house then her friends wouldn’t come.

My house is too small and I have no backyard for a party.

I don’t have a lot of money to pay for dinner for everyone either.

Should we just plan a party at my grandma’s house and make it a big deal there?

And then take her to a nice restaurant with just her, me and my wife on a later date?

I feel bad since her friends had big parties thrown by their children.

I don’t want her to feel like we don’t care.

My wife and I are expecting our first child. I have real problem with putting an infant into daycare. My wife makes about twice what I make. I have the ability to work from home but my income will be diminished. Is it wrong or weird for the father to stay home with the kids while the wife goes off to bring home the bacon?

He really likes typical boy things - Power Rangers, action figures, bikes, skate boards, etc. At what age is a sleepover acceptable and/or should I have a party and allow 1 friend to spend the night?

Help! :) Boys can be destructive to have in the home but I also don't want to spend $200 for a party! His birthday is in the middle of September.

every time my granny says this.. if me or my mother show up and give her some brochures, photographs, and information about different assisted living facilities or options she gets angry and says we are plotting to put her away.... She has done this 5 times now.
She has all her mind, I think . If she wants to hire a lawyer to change her will, she breaks out the phone book, calls one, and does it. She isn't unable to think or make decisions, from what I can tell. I take care of her full time, driving her to appointments, doing her shopping and cleaning her house, and even hired a neighbor to help out with her when I am busy with my children. She has congestive heart failure. SOmetimes when we can't be with her every minute, and she has a hard time doing something on her own and gets upset, she will start telling me she needs to go in a nursing home, and wants me to find her a home to go to. Then, if I offer her any info at all she tells everyone I am plotting to put her away?

Yea...so one day i was over at her house and she said sumthing really random....and the fight was about a carton of canned sodas...she said didnt we get that just yesterday (cause she said i drank all of the sodas) and i was like not we got it like 2 days ago...and i did realize i was worng after it happenned but i mean seriously...so now she acts like she hates me and she doesnt really even try talking to me, and im seeing her today...but i dont know what to say, i really want her just to get over it. and i mean i did admit i was wrong and sorry. and im going to a concert and she and my family will be there and im sitting with her. so i want it all to be cleared up before that! PLEASE HELP!

I live in Florida and my ex is currently $7,000.00 PLUS over due and has not paid in more than a year! The state of Florida keeps giving me excuse after excuse and it's so exhausting... There is a Florida State Statute that say's once a father has not paid in over 1-year, or is owing over $4,000.00, or has been found in contempt on more than two occassions that this is a 3rd degree felony punishable by law. Yet child support doesn't really understand it so they don't really know how to enforce it. So, I am going to enforce it on my own and I am also starting a community for other parents in my situation at www.storkchat.com - you can see the link below for Florida . I am willing to post any other states and info. to help other people in the same situation. Also, thought about making a Wanted List of past due deadbeats. So, what is everyone's opinion on this issue? Do you know anyone going through the same issues and do you have any suggestions? Please let me hear from you :-)

My mom is turning 50 years old at the end of October. My dad (i don't think) isn't going to plan anything for the big day because he is lazy, doesn't want to do it and the fact that we don't have a lot of money. She has thrown birthday parties for my dad when he was 40 and 50 (i don't remeber what she did). I know my mom will be crushed if a party is not thrown for her. We live in Michigan so that time of year we can't have an outdoor party because it's chilly/cold. I am in my early twenties (old enough to drink), so I can afford a party of some sort but nothing too expensive. I'll try and get my dad, brother and sister on it. I need some ideas of what we should do for her birthday. Please Help
