Family - July 2006

I grew up with a tight knit family, always gettin together for family functions and holidays. We are considering a move cross because we love the area and we are looking forward to a fresh start, but really, thats the only reason. If we move, we are taking our children away from their aunts, unlces, cousins and grandchildren. I am sad that they will miss out on that. Should we stay?

in kindergarten on halloween,my husband thought if he took off his mask he would get in trouble...he said he wore that damn thing all day long,and even tried shoving his lunch through the little hole in the mouth part...(it's the size of a hole pucher hole) so basically he starved all day long...they had barely arrived from Mexico and couldn't speak english,so he didn't know any better...what did you used to believe that was funny looking back?

I am 6 months pregnant expecting my first child a son in October. My ex dumped me the first Saturday in June he said that I am to hormonal and I was to bitchy. He then had the nerve to tell me that he didnt think that the baby was his. Now he is sorry and he wants me to take him back but I feel that I shouldnt because of the way he acted. Should I forgive and forget and accpet him back? I have also decieded to give the child my last name instead of his is that a mistake as well? Please someone help me figure this mess.

my brother was bribed by his grandparents into moving in with them(he is my half brother).they said they'd give him a truck and ciggarettes.he left us.i was really close to him and i cant hardly talk to him when he does call which is seldom because i want to cry.the last time i talked to him he was in a bar and was coughing up blood.he said he would see a doctor.i guess he's okay now and is living with his drud addict of a mom.they are just alike now.ive been breaking down when i think of his betrayal and i know i shouldn't cry but i do.i'm not a drama queen i just break down thinking about it.he was my best friend then he abandoned me his own half sister.my sister is way stronger about this but i am weak and i tear up over what he did .do u have any advice?

how much does rent usually cost if you have a roomie and will nearly 9 dollars an hour be enough to cover the cost??

my grandma died last night and when i heard that, i started crying cuz i wasn't very nice to her when she was alive... actually i was awful to her... and when i look back, she did so much stuff for me... she carryed me home and to places wheni was a baby, she did my laundry (and i said ewww to her ) =[ and she also gave me money to me on new years... and... she just died quietly last night... =[ what can i do to make it up to her?

My sister is highly disorganized and refuses to actually look for things she misplaces because it's more convenient for her to just take my stuff. I don't mind her borrowing, but it bugs me when my stuff becomes her lost items. I've tried buying replicas of my things for her to deter her, but to no avail. She's easily irritated, so it's probable that confronting her about it will result in her screaming at me. I don't know what to do to get her to stop taking my things!

I feel like my brothers are always verbally abusing me. I have tried to tell my parents but they think that it is just them calling me names and that I am over reacting. However, I find myself actually believing them and I am changing who I am so that they will stop. I mean I do things like obbsseive exercising and I am not eat like I used to. Even when I don't eat anything all day, they still call me mean hurtful names and I find myself becoming more afraid of what other people have to think about me. My boyfriend worries about how much weight that I have lost in the last week, about ten pounds in one week. I am almost 6 foot tall and I am about 140 pounds. I don't look fat, but they still call me "a fat lazy *** cow who does nothing." It is everyday that I hear that and all day, I find something else to do so that I am doing something while they are sitting infront of the tv. I do play sports all year long and they say that I don't have anything to do. What should I do? PLEASE HELP!!

My husband and I are in our middle age and we are blessed with two children. My husband is basically a good person but does not value the family. Freinds and other relations matter a lot except his immediate family. Most of the time he is with others and when he is in the house he watches the movies/listen to music but does not spend time with his children. He has got the inner feeling that if he gives the monthly allowances to the family then he has done his duty. Family and its ties do not affect him. Since this suits the interest of his other relations and freinds, nobody comes forward to guide him. I am a working lady and cannot bring the completeness of the family all alone by myself. I have tried advising him but to no avail. I cannot express this to others because they may chide me saying that since my husband is not aggressive, booser or volatile I have no reason to complain. But I want him to involve in the family so that there is good relationship+fulfillment within.

I think that I have noticed a pattern . . .I think that whenever I look like I might not depend on her for happiness. . . she gets nervous and tries to agitate and control . . .thru lies . . .misrepresentation . . . exageration . . twisting of the truth. She often will say , unbelievably . . "Oh, Aunt/Cousin so and so say this or that" when she says it, not them. She will try to make me feel like the other relatives are rallying around her like she is special -just out of the blue . .not for any particular reason - . . and as though suddenly she is not the loner loser she has always subjected me to her being . . and as though suddenly though she has raised me with "You and me against the world" . .suddenly . .guess what, "It's just YOU against the world" . .and the relatives (who are never in the picture) suddenly ARE and suddenly are showing concern over (issues that would be to her benefit if they cared about) (or would be stuff that serves her interests).

I was adopted at birth. It was set up by my adoptive dad's boss and his wife. We are still in contact with them, and they said whenever I'm ready, they'll tell me everything. I'm 18 years old. Last week, I found out for the first time that my birth mother wanted to have an abortion but it was too late. I feel incredibly hurt. I used to think that my adoption was because she loved me and knew she couldn't take care of me, but now I know that she would rather have killed me. No one else understands. I am now contemplating contacting the couple that set up my adoption because I'm tired of not knowing and want all of this to be behind me. I guess what I'm looking for here is support and suggestions on what to say to my adoptive family- who is the best I could ask for, by the way- from people who actually know what I'm going through. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a family member (who's age I won't tell, but it's over 40) who's never lived by herself. She's always had someone to cook her meals, clean her laundry and fix her messes when she gets into trouble. Unfortunately the person who did this for her passed away a few months ago, and she's on her own.

Now, here somes the hilarious part.

I'm 19. She's now looking to me as if she wants me to be the 'replacement'; to clean for her and cook for her and fix all of her problems. Now, what do you think is the best way to tell her to 'leave me alone, take care of your own self' in a nice way? I don't want to anger her; it wouldn't help. I just want to get her to start depending on herself to run her own life. Any advice?

I am an Adult. But I feel like she is always on a pedestal my whole life, and I feel like running the other way just not to be like her. Which makes her only look even more perfect than me. If just found u had a lil sis age13 about six months ago from ur dad who is dead but u hated. Would u call every one in a while. just found my older brother in January and its July we haven't met yet. I know i am only 13 but i've always a older brother to look up to.To protect from boys and be the father figure i neva had. I didn't ask him for anything. But it breaks my heart to know he doesn't even want to try to get to know me. Even if he hates our dad he doesn't have to hate me.Heck he even got to know our dad but our dad died when i was only 13 months old. Every time i think about it, i wished i neva found him in the first place. He's 37 now. Right now I am writing him a letter to tell him how i feel.
