Family - July 2006

She is going through her 2nd round of chemo and has been having a lot of problems. Anyway, her birthday is tomorrow, and I honestly have no idea what to get her. What do you get for someone who is in the hospital? I have already sent her flowers. She doesn't feel like reading or really doing much of anything. Any suggestions?

My dad gets mad at me A LOT.
Eventually he gets horribly mad at me.
He yells and cusses more then anyone i have ever known.
ALSO he throws things, not at me, but where they are dangerously colse to hitting me. He has even threw glasses on the ground, punched a hole in my door, and damaged my walls by throwing objects at them.
Everytime he does this I get scared for my life and this only makes him more mad and violent.
He also grabs me really hard and sometimes pushes me up against a wall, or hits my leg. He still spanks me REALLY hard even though im 15.
Also he talks constantly about how he sometimes just wants to hit me really hard and he tells my mom she should just beat the hell out of me, but she refuses and never does.
He often threatens to slap me.
When I tell him what he does is wrong he says he can do w/e he wants and its NOT wrong...but it scares & hurts me.
Hes a cop too.
What do I do?
I might die someday when he gets angry enough.
Please help me.

I have a loving wife and 2 children, a son 13 and a daughter 16. I am an old fashioned and strict man. I believe my house rules are fair for my children. Afew examples are that the children are to tell me when and where they are going each day and must be home for dinner with the family 6:30 if they are not home they are punished and recieve no dinner. I do not tolerate back talked to and require my children to address any adult as Sir or ma'am including their parents. The daily chores are divided equally among my children and if they are not done when told they they are to stay in their room for the rest of the day. My daughter is not to wear makeup of any sort unless it is a formal occasion and is dressed as a respectable young lady should be dressed. My daughter is also not allowed to date or to be alone with boys until she is 18 years of age. The same goes for my son in the correct respects. They do not have cell phones or televisions in their rooms.please let me know your thoughts

well u see...my mom yells everyday..even when we dont do anything wrong.....and she never has anything good to say and always talks about how she wants to leave the family...it makes me sad and she never listens....she tells us to talk to her but we cant cuz she doesnt listen cuz she winds up yelling..if shes mad at one person....SHE'S MAD AT EVERYONE And no one is safe!!

I need help. I'm 13. My mom is pretty much the equivalent to a mix of Adolf Hitler and a dream basher. She dictates me. (Im a guy). She doesnt listen to me. She threatens to give me away. I JUST WANTED TO PUT ON THE PLAY 'RENT' WITH MY FRIENDS AS A LIL SUMMER PROJECT AND SHE MADE ME PULL OUT OF IT SAYING I WAS 'TOO BUSY' AND 'EVER SINCE I STARTED THIS STUPID RENT BULL(****) I HAVENT BEEN HAVING A GOOD SUMMER' in her standards. It was my dream to play Mark in RENT. She shot it down. I can't live like this. I envy all my friends. They say "she has no right to do that!" She signed me up for camp without asking me. She says 'ur 13, until ur 18 u have no say in anything!" I wish she was normal. I wish my life was normal. How do I talk to her, WITHOUT HER LEAVING THE ROOM, ROLLING HER EYES, AND SCOLDING ME!!??

I have a family guest that is staying with me for 21 days, I knew before hand that he is annoying;however, not the degree of his annoyance. He talks non stop, eben when we are eating. Most of his talks are nonesense or about himself and his life ( to the smallest detail). I cannot take it anymore, I sleep on the sofa and had not even a good sleep for a week. He might even stay more (God help me if that happens). What should I do?

I don't have kids but I would love a big family, 6 or 8 kids. everyone keeps going about how expensive it would be and how you won't have time for yourself, but surely the most important things in life don't cost anything and if I wanted time to myself , I wouldn't have kids at all

sometimes when my kid poops while napping shell wake up and kinda finger paint with it on the wall....is this normal behavior for a almost 3 yr old ? does anybody elses kids do this ?

I live a long way from my dad, but will be traveling sort of close to his local. I will have a couple of free days b4 my scheduled activity. I love my dad alot. Thing is, I also have a lot of anger issues with his wife and my little sister. There has been a lot of disappointment.

I think I would feel horrible if I passed up an opportunity like this, but the guilt trips they would play, regardless, would be unpleasant as well.

Still not convinced I should go.

What should I do?

I always wanted to be a stay at home mom. My husband and I realized that that might never happen and we decided to have a baby and have me go back to work. We have a beautiful son. I spend as much time with him as I can and love him SO much. He's a happy and content child, but I still find myself wishing and holding on to the idea of being at home full time. Financially, losing my paycheck is not a possibility. Even if we cut down on everything. Am I a fool to hold out hope? Are there legitimate ways out there to pull in a good income while spending more time at home. ANY advice, practical or emotional would be such a help. Thank you.
