Family - June 2006

My mom wants to justify her mistakes with me, but instead of setting an example of him, she takes it out on me. Today he had to work on a project and instead of doing anything worthwhile on it, its due monday, he spent the entire day playing games with them, no ork done nothing, except their going to the Arlington cemetery to shoot the film they "need", when they could have actually bickled down and done everything today. Just a few minutes ago, he asked our mom for thirty dollars to go to the rock climb nearby. He says their going to do the project at 12:30, but my mom eats up anything he says as an absolute truth. Then he asked her for twenty dollars for a "field trip" to go to like 4 places, even though it would cost about 50 normally, so I believe he lying about that too. I don't know whats he's really doing, I hate my mom for her idolizing, and I want to kill him because we go into a fight earlier. What should I do to set an example of him, put him in his place, so to speak. Help!

I have a younger sister who is 14. She starts high school next year and I am worried about her. She's like most teenagers and thinks that nothing bad can happen to her. I try to keep open communication so that I know what she's up to. I know that she has tried drinking and smoking. She and a friend just recently got in a car with a 20 year old boy to 'drive around'. I tried to explain that a 20 year old boy shouldn't want to hang out with 14 year old girls. The scary thing is that she has done less things then a lot of her friends. It's crazy to me that at this age they are experiencing the things they are. Other girls her age are already having sex. Is there any possible way I can talk to her and get through to her? Or is this just something she is going to do no matter what. She is a good person but easily gives in to peer pressure. Please help.

My mother-in-law comes over to my house and goes snooping in all my cuboards. Including the medicine cabinet. Then she tells me she did. I guess I could think at least she's honest. I don't when I'm at her house. She says she's doing it to make sure we have everything we need. It's bugging me. Is it rude for her to do that or should I just lighten up? Also it would bother me if my best friend did it not just my mother-in law.

I most recently found my 15 year crying in his room, saying that he hadnt accomplished anything this year. This is a child who has been an a- student on the track team, soccer team and key club so bascially and over achiever. Yet he said he is a social outcast, which also makes nosense because he has lots of friends. I'm not sure how to handle this. Any advice he is a freshmen is this typical?

He moved out recently because of friction between him and my mom. They aren't getting a divorce, he's just living apart from the rest of the family. In my opinion, this gesture signifies that he does not want to be part of the family any longer. So then why does he always want to spend time with me? I don't have time for this...I want to be a normal teenager and hang out with my friends. Dads should be there to hang out with at home...shouldn't they? How can I enjoy visiting my dad more?

My boyfriend just recently quit drinking. So far, he's been substituting the beer can for soda cans and lots of water and chocolate. We're going back to see his family in a few days and all his friends there are used to him drinking all the time. And of course they'll want him to drink too! Should I call his friends ahead of time? Or just leave it up to him to tell them that he quit drinking?

Things were going horribly wrong in our relationship, lies, gambling, he headbutted me, and cheated on me. All because of his alcoholism. I know he's truly sorry otherwise he wouldn't of quit drinking.

If he goes back to drinking, I'm leaving for good. I need his friends and family to support him. His parents already know.

But should I call his friends ahead of time to tell them he quit or let him tell them?

Sorry about rambling on. It's been a long week for me and I'm still venting out.

2 years of this boy, now 20 with my daughter now 18 and also his first girlfriend. Out of blue, no not a new guy either, she breaks up. He says he is clueless. She refuses to respond to test messages, phone calls and ect. I hurt because when I look at her I see a monster not my daughter. I can't handle the idea of my child being so apathetic to ANYONE least of all this sweet, loyal, couldn't hurt a fly "nice guy" that just last week she said she loved! I desperately want to see some empathy from her. I'm not trying to get them back together. I cant bear the thought that my daughter could be so ruthless and cutthroat and I can't bear the thought of this boys pain....his first girlfriend....and to have it end without notice or warning AND with the grinding halt of her basically saying leave me the "F" alone, I could care less!!! AND with the pain I myself feel at the loss of this young man in our lives as well. I emailed him with my apologies for her unforgivable behavior.

came to me when our baby was not white. He is not black either but is half cast. Having doubt for me and not trusting my wife is as guilty to me as adultery itself, so I have a conflict in me as to request a DNA sample. My son is 10 years old and his behavior is horrible. I truly have created a monster. When he is good he is very, very good but when he is bad he is scary. Today for instance I had to take his PSP2 away from him. He .came over and pushed me. Told me to shut up, said he didn't give a f**k, and told me he hated me. Then he began to hit my tiled floor with a bat. He throws stuff a lot. He sees a therapist for his anger. The problem is me. I give into him all the time because I don't want a fight. He is always getting what he wants. If I take something away he will say I don't care I'll just get it back tomorrow. I don't follow through with anything. Basically, he does what he wants. He doesn't treat his father like this. The father lives in a different house. At his father's house he listens, follows the rules and does chores. If I ask him to do chores it is a huge argument. He gets what he wants from me. His sister 12 is well behaved. Is it too late for my son?
