My husband just had serious heart surgery just over a month ago. He has gone back to the hospital several times because of complications. He is in the hospital now even. We were planning on taking a 2 week trip with his parents. I feel that the money is too tight because my husband has not been able to work AND I think that he should not go on a 2 week driving trip because of all his current medical problems. My mother in law is still acting like we are going to take this trip even though my husband and I have expressed our concerns. How can I tell her to LAY OFF the subject already!

I just read an interview with Emily Giffen, who has written a book called Baby Proof, about a woman who does not want children. I remember saying I didn't want children, and I even had my tubes tied at the age of 30. Now I regret that, as I have no grandchildren. My own parents made it sound like raising children was much more work than fun, and yet some people seriously do enjoy their children. Do you think women should "naturally" want children, and if they don't, will live to regret it? And how does that fit in with whether women "should" want a career? And is wanting grandchildren later a sufficient reason to want children when you are young enough?

My dad had an affair 6 years ago.. and there was a child born from it. Our family was just informed of it about 2 yearts ago. The woman calls everyday trying to get the child to come to our house, but my dad doesnt want him over. My mom has no idea what to do. Should she let the child come over and be with his half siblings even though only one (who is only 8 yearts old) out of 5 people in the family want him here? Should the two families be involved at all?

Any etiquette involved?

Is there anything wrong with writing personalized messages rather than buying and just signing pre-printed cards?

Need help, please?

OK.. Long story but I'll try to shorten it.
My parents split up when I was real young.. Well.. My Mom remarried another man who raised us kids for 13 years, Before my mom passed away. Well he remarried afterwards, Now his wife passed away this weekend and the funeral is tomorrow.
My step-father and mother had nothing but problems near the end before she passed.. Argued all the time..etc.. etc.. And I personally couldn't stand him back then. But my sister called me and wants me to goto the funeral with her. My step-father has been out of my life for over 14 years. My daughter wants me to go.. But I am debating on it.. Should I? Or better yet.. Would you?

Im 19 and haven't seen my dad since I was like 4. He was abusive. He almost killed my mom, he beat her, cheated on her, treated her like she was the most worthless thing in the world. He put her through 11 years of hell. Just remembering how she hurt and watching her be scared all the time, brings tears in my eyes and makes me want to kill my dad. But even though he hurt her so bad, I still want to be with him. I cry for him everynight and pray and pray and pray that he will come see me and tell me he loves me. Am I wrong for wanting him after what he did to my mom? My dad is a psycho path and Im scared he would hurt my mom if I saw him. I feel like I need him though. What should I do? There is a whole other side to my life that I don't know about.

I'm dating a guy with two kids and, as any normal child does from time to time, they make inappropriate comments that obviously need correcting... When he's not there to correct them, or he doesn't think to point it out, is it appropriate for me to correct them... and say "we don't say that" or "that's not polite"?

ok a week after i got married my husband's sister, her boyfriend, and her 5 kids moves in with with us. it was supposed to be for a "couple of weeks" lol but of course that turned into months. she never took care of her kids and i saw her mistreating them a number of times, not to mention that she just up and left whenever she felt like it. then she got arrested for drugs (felony charges). the kids kept living with us and we soon found out that in order to take proper care of them we needed custody (school, doctor, etc.). she had been in jail for about a year and she got out on bail. she came to live with us cause she didn't have anywhere else to go and so she could see her kids. but my husband told her that she couldn't take collect calls from her boyfriend in jail so she left her kids to go somewhere she could talk to him. she hasn't changed a bit and i don't know what to do. she's probably going back to jail when she goes to court, but now she's being a real bi*ch to us.what can i do?

My daughter's biological father has not had contact with her since she was 2. She will be 10 next month. I have been with her "dad" for almost 8 years and they would both like him to adopt her. She really wants his last name like her younger sister and her parents. Her sperm doner has moved out of state and I am not sure which one he is in now. This is something that is very important to her!

Also, does anyone know if I can do this myself without a lawyer?

I'am 20 years old and I have been recently been asked to attend a family reunion out of state by my father I have not seen (parents not together)or spoken (only on occassions) to for the past 6 years. He wants me to come and meet his side of the family and all of my brothers and sisters. Its not like I don't want to meet my family its just that there is to much pressure to go. I know I'm an adult and all but still.....

P.S. How would you react?
