We divorced in 1975, and being young and silly, I asked for nothing in the divorce settlement. I raised my daughter singly and never remarried. My ex died in 1994. He had not remarried. Are there any loop holes that would allow me to claim some of his benefits? I am living soooo frugally. Thank you.

I am 17, and I have just finished high school. I have known this girl for about a year and a half and have liked her for that long too. I felt like she liked me too but was too chicken to ask how she felt. She kind of rejected me once and she told me she didn't like me the same. I was kinda bummed, actually I was really upset. But after that her friends saw that I was upset and said they had been talking to her and she DOES really like me, it's just she doesn't want to mess things up. (This was atleast 7 months ago btw). Since then I haven't been hanging around her or talking to her as much, even though I really want to and when I do see her I get all nervous and my heart starts beating fast. I mean, I seriously can't get over her. I can't stop thinking about her, I am going crazy. I still feel she likes me, a bit more than a friend at least. Now that school is over, I don't see her, I don't talk to her. I don't know what to do. I am too scared to do anything. I'm losing it...

generation x, means modern day people. How much still we value the word "marriage" in our society and in our lives. I believe if youre goin to say that it is important according to the culture but then, why there were divorce, but then if you say, its the law of God, but then why most people sets in for "trials" called "lived-in"? if marriage calls for lifetime togetherness, why we cant sacrifice for it? give me your views on this.

So I was at this party and met a very good looking guy. For whatever reason, he was very attracted to me and kept coming back to talk to me, asking for my number, etc. I would normally consider him WAY out of my league. Anyway, we had a good conversation so I was happy with the whole thing. After about an hour of talking we had a little kiss goodnight...well, then the b*ches came out.:

One of my friends watched & said "wait - did you just force yourself on him? I couldn't tell...was that mutual?"

Another one of my "friends" said - "wow, he was hot- that must have been an ego boost."

Last, a RANDOM guy interupted us while the guy was putting my number in his cell phone. The random drunken guy goes - "Don't lose his number! I wouldn't want to lose him!" I was like - dude, he's getting my number!

Aright so I am not Tyra Banks hot but I am not fugly - what the he11?? This was a party with a lot of ivy league academic ppl so the superficiality really shocked me.

I'm invited to a co-workers wedding in a couple of weeks. I will be attending the reception with my boyfriend. My question is: What is the appropriate gift? A gift from their registry or money? If money, how much? Any suggestions?

I divorced my husband of 11 years because I found out he was cheating on me with prostitutes soliciting near his job. I found out because I ended up with a V.D. Thankfully not a serious one.

Our divorce is now final, but now more than ever we see each other everyday, we sleep together more than ever and he provides for my family more than he ever has. He expresses how sorry he is and asked me back for my hand in marriage. Is it possible that he is truly sorry? Did he learn his lesson?

I dont know how to move on. I divorced him because he hurt me (emotionally and physically) but I love him and he is the father of my children. I've tried dating since my divorce, but there is a void that only my ex husband fills. I can forgive him but I cant forget what he's done to me. I throw it in his face whenever I get into my moods and I can see the shame in his face when I do that.

He is a totally great father and my kids love him so. What the hell do I do? Im confused.

He doesn't even live at home, I'm only home for the winter, and it all started because I went on the computer and he turned round and said 'dont you ask' to which I replied 'whats that got to do with you? I live here you dont'

My mother still hasnt even bothered asking if I'm okay. Before my sister died I used to come down here as little as possible cos she was always being nasty with me, looks like its my brothers turn now

My sister and I both like different kinds of music. We also have a little brother. I like music like: Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Barry Manilow, Bette Midler, Michael Buble`, and more artists like that. Where then my sister (like other kids her age) LOVES HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL! And nobody else in the family likes but her. Except for now. See, my brother, he used to like the sae music as me, but now my sister tells him that he shouldn't like the same music as me, and only the same music as her. And so now my brother makes fun of my music. What should I do?

So im in this class with a bunch of people (im in grad school) who are all complaining endlessly how they don't understand the material. Some of them even cry over it. They asked me to be their "ambassador" of sorts to talk to the professor and even the chair of the department on their behalf. I did.

Well... lo and behold we all got the midterms back. I thought I was just average - like everyone else who was struggling. WELL - turns out these supposedly "struggling" students were completely manipulative and all got B+s while I got a D. Then, they argued to the professor about why their B+ should be an A- and went on to say they "never got less than an A before". I was shocked

I can'n believe that last week I had the impression we were all in the same boat. They completely lied about their abilities. I was misled to think that I was just like them. They never offered to help me or work together...they just wanted to use me to seem like the "dumb one" to the prof & chair.

So many times people are afraid to ask for a divorce because of the fear of retaliation, or the costs involved, "losing the house, the kids, etc...." What do you think? If it was easy, would you have done it by now? or are you afraid of the unknown? Do you stay for reasons other than love? Are you numb to it and just live the same routine day after day screaming on the inside for a way out? Is there anyone else out there who feels the same way?

I just don't understand how an attraction could be this strong (and it's mutual), and yet there's always some reason we don't get together. I don't understand this. I know it's "unhealthy" and "wrong" of me, but it's just not getting any better. It makes me question life and what it's all about.

This is the 1st x-mas my son has asked 4 something specific & has been talking about it for months. He tells everyone in sight. I was planning on getting him the gift from us. I intentionally left it off his lists to grandparents & others. My mother in law informs me on thanksgiving that she went & bought it. I didn't know what to say. I was shocked. She says every year what she is going to get my boys so we don't buy the same things. Trouble is, she never buys what she says & then the boys don't have it. She has dissapointed them year after year. Myself included. I can't tell her to take it back b/c then I'd hurt her feelings. I can't tell her we already bought it b/c we haven't. It's my fault for not buying the gift when he said he wanted it but I'm a habitually late shopper. I'll shop on the 23rd this year. Should I buy him the gift like I planned & then he'll already have it? I probably will no matter what you say, I just want to hear everyone's opinion.
