I'm currently in the military, living on my own for 4 1/2 years. We've been dating off and on for 2 1/2 years, we broke up because my parents found out he was black. I think I was a coward and that's why we broke up. We've never had any problems between us, he's caring and truly loves me! He makes me so happy. My parents won't meet him just because of his color, which is ignorant on them. But I come from a small town and I don't know if they'll ever come to accept it.

Unless they have a good reason for you to break up with your boyfriend, other than racism, your parents are totally wrong this time.
This guy could be a great person and you can't let go your chance of being happy just because of his skin color; thankfully this is a new age where two people can be together no matter their race.
And think about this: will you spend the rest of your life in you home town?

I was raised to believe that anyone who treats you good is your type. Its a shame that they are disapproving him because of race and skin color. There are so much more important things to worry about than that. Like does he respect you as a person and as a woman. Is he honest does he make you happy.... This is something that you have to answer on your own. You have to decide is he worth fighting for.

It depends on if he is a nice bloke...... Look as far as i am concerned it shouldn't matter if he was black, white, purple or any other colour you can think of aslong as he treats you with respect , honesty and understanding then you should go for it.. But is it ally because he is black they don't like him or do they really see something in him you don't? Maybe you should ask them and find out (that is if you have'nt already)

well that is because racial mixing is widely dissaproved. are they racist? pull your parents to the side alone and find out which one is the main cause of the "dissaproval" because face to face with the pair can cause a culmination of feeling that might not be there seperately. The non-dissaproving one can uaually sway the feelings at least to some extent. be careful though, you dont want to lose your parents though, you can always find love.

Nope, if you can stomach the discontent of your family. If you think it will put you in danger, go with it untill your on your own. Date who makes you happy. Good guys come in all colors and shapes and sizes and socioeconomic backgrounds.

well. it depends on how your bf treats you. you should talk it out with your parents first. my parents dont approve either, but if he does nice things for you, etc. then stay with him. tell your parents what he does for you. make him seem like the best person in the world.

The color of his skin shouldn't matter.
And your parents probably should be mature enough to realize that.
