Should parents have any say in who you date, love, take interest in or find attractive? should parents be able to tell you that they think your partner is unattractive to their tastes and that you should find someone thats more attractive to them or that they think your partner is not tall enouge/ bulky enouge etc. so just dump them.
Or is it wrong for parents to get into your business, want you to tell them about your dates/ personality of the person your dating.

Should parents just butt out all together and understand that it's your life, you date whoever you want because your not exactly dating for THEM, your dating for YOU.
should they have any control over who you date?

We just had a serious relationship discussion and realize that it is on the rocks. We resolved to do more things together (that we have in common) and try to make things work. Then we made love and he immediately went to check his message (the phone rang during) and made plans for us without discussing it with me. I have to work in the morning so I didn't want to go but I told him to just go- I wouldn't be mad. But now I'm upset. Should I be?

My ex and I have been talking. He's the father of my children. I'm ok with us being friends but he wants more. He wants to move back in and says if he can't, he never wants to see or talk to me again. I don't want us to be bitter enemies and he wants everything to go his way or no way at all. He thinks we should live together but I do not love him anymore and he says he cannot stand for us to be apart. There are times he will resort to threats and other times he cries. He blames me for not being able to move on with his life. If you've had this happen, how did you handle it?

about 6 months ago i started dating this guy. we considered ourselfs to be bf and gf. but after 3 months he sayes he doesnt want a gf right now, but he wants to stay friends. but nothing has changed in our relationship, we still hang out, we still talk to eachother every day, we see eachother no more/less then when we were "dating", and the sex hasnt slowed down any. i still consider us as a couple but he doesnt. and i dont get it. im 26 and havent dated for about 7 yrs. (i was married and devorced by 19 and wasnt looking for anything. so i feel out of the loop on dating.) hes 31 and was the one to pursue the relationship. i have met his family but he dosnt have any desire for me to meet his friends and wont take me to his bars or hangouts. im not sure what to think of the relationship. ive been sceptical of the relationship from the beginning. and im 95% sure that hes not "cheating". i have yet to find any evidence to suggest that. why not just say were dating? is he hiding something?

i met this guy online, we are kinda far apart,never met in person, and havent even talked on the phone. but when we chat its for hours and he seems so sincere that I want to believe in this guy and have faith in him but i don't know it's hard for me to completely trust..and he seems very busy all the time lately..and sometimes i go off on the over-emotional deep end sometimes and leave crazy messages which i feel is only pushing him away...but it's only because i am torn between really falling for him and really feeling hurt when days go by without a word...any advice... i'm so confused i'm not sure what to think...

Sorry if you just read this, but this is so important to me I want as many responses as I can get, so...

I almost dropped the "L" word on the gf for the first time last night and in hindsight wish I would have. It was a very good/positive emotional moment. Question: should I wait for another similar moment or does it matter? Can I drop it out of the blue and still have a positive effect? I have told women I love them before (and thought I meant it), but have never felt anything close to what I feel for her now and want to get this right.

And before anyone accuses me of alterior motives, I want to say I really am falling in love with her and I am as convinced as I can be that she is with me. I am not exactly scared, but definitely a little gunshy.

I am dating this guy who wants me to act like his mother what should i do ? everytime we fight i feel like i am battleing his mother, I mean there is nothing wrong with him wanting his mother opinion but even about sex! i want to call it off because everyone in his family know our personal business. My ex just called me and lefted me a voicemail saying "hey I was just seeing how you were doing and if you were alright and everything well give me a call later, maybe tomorrow night. bye"
after he told me he had a new gf, txting messaging me about making out with some girl, and telling me that he hates me and to leave him alone... he's called me before but never has lefted a message or anything..(I've only answered one call from him since the break up and he wouldn't talk.)
he suddently wants to talk to me? uhmm what the hell is going on?
considering he says he hates me, says to leave him alone and everything that just doesn't seem right to me.
any ideas?

I have known my friend Dan for about a year now. we're close but since he has a lot going on, we spend only time at work together(like he does with everyone else) but the difference is we're real friends, we talk about a lot and bond, we can be silly and I'm always there 4 him and he's the same with me, very accepting we respect and support each other and enjoy being around each other. I feel I am definitely the cloest to him.( we bag at a super market, customer service,trash and collect carts. we spend a lot of 1 on 1 time together. I want to be able 2 show him on a daily basis that I have real feelings 4 him. it's hard cuz Dan doesn't always say how he feels,he's real appropriate at work,friendly to all, so it's harder 2 know how he feels 4 me. I think it's harder 4 him 2 open up on 1 on 1 ways cuz he's not experience wit dat, h.s was hard, people picked on him 4 being so nice and jus different. what are your thoughts, sujestions and opinions. I'd love to hear them all.

my sister left for college today. I cried for like four days straight. I really can't cry anymore. But now I feel so empty. she's my closest sister. we are only two years apart. my other sister is way too young for me to tell her stuff. how can i stop missing her? how i can fill in time? I'm so empty. i have no one to talk to. she is like BEST BEST BEST FRIEND. i used to talk to her from like 12 AM to 4AM. i'm so lonely. the only thing i can fill this emptiness with is food.

My husband and I have been married for 6 years this past June and were talking about a second honeymoon. Our first one was good but I was in school and our financial abilities were very lacking to say the least. Now that we both have our careers and are more financially stable, we want to have a second honeymoon. But the problem is where to go. We don't really like the normal stuff like Hawaii and all but we want something that is romantic and fun. Does anyone know a place that we could find both (my husband is also a huge horse person so that would be a nice inclusion)?

ok, I've been dating this guy for four and a half months, and I love him to death...his mom already told her husband I'm going to be their daughter-in-law, she knows this is no puppy love. But the thing is, we have never said "I love you"....and before we started to date, before we knew we liked one another, I told him I thought you shouldn't say I love you early on in a relationship...and I know his first girl friend pressured him into saying "I love you"....but it's getting to the point where it literally hurts not to say those words to him...so I guess my real question is...do I say I love you? or do I let him say it first? is he thinking-"I don't want to pressure her"...is one thought....I'm just so torn, I don't want to scare him but what if he's wondering why i haven't said it yet....it seems like a catch 22, I just need some help here!!!

Has anyone solved this VERY delicate situation in any special way? Our parents live 3 states apart, so visiting both on the day isn't the solution. Also, is there anything anyone has done to make a special connection with their parents/family if they are away from them on this special occasion?
